I toured City Center Place's senior apartments in Birmingham. What I liked most about it was that it seemed like it was a secure building, and the neighbors seemed to look out for one another. The floor plans are really nice, too. They're larger, especially with my father in an electric mobile chair. He could get in and out of his apartment and move around in his chair without damaging the wall. They have a little activity center where they play bingo. They have some activities like bingo and whatever card games that the tenants would like to gather and do. They don't have a kitchen or anything like that because it's pure independent living. Water and trash are included, and it has ample covered parking. The apartments came with a washer and dryer, and appliances like a refrigerator. I like the fact that it was clean for the most part, and the residents smoke outside and are encouraged to always do so. It was free of any litter or clutter. I think they should probably have a professional mopping service. I saw one of the residents; I don't know if they contracted with her. She was mopping, but she was mopping with a dirty mop. She also looked like she could have been mentally off, but that was a big no-no to me, and I brought that up to management. They need someone like a professional to come in and take care of stuff like that. Other than that, they seem to have a good maintenance team, and they seem to be very responsive.
