My mother is on hospice through Beacon Hospice, Inc. - Augusta. When we transitioned to home, the hospital recommended them. They provide a visiting nurse and a CNA every weekday for about a half hour. The CNA helps with bathing and dressing. They're very responsive.

This group of care givers helped me with my Dad who passed away in July 2012 and began helping with Mom two weeks after his passing. I give this group a 4 and only because one needs room to improve. They came in and eased my load extensively. They are all, gentle, caring, loving people who assess your needs and do everything in their power to meet and exceed expectations. They are available 24/7 by phone and act as quickly as possible when a need arises. I have only kind and good things to say and have and would recomend them to anyone. Do yourself a favor and get them involved as early as possible as you as a cargiver don't know how much you need them until you engage them. They are not invasive and make it aware to you that you are still in control and that they are there to assist you and your family with a wide array of services and are a great resource even for things that they may not provide.

These people are just fantastic. My mother has Alzheimers, parkinsen's, kidney failure, broke her hip three years ago and can't walk, has macular degeneration and is deaf. This all happened to her in a 3 year period. I have been taking care of her 24/7 now for over a year before that she was in a nursing home but we moved and I had to take her out. The nurses, CNA's social workers and Chaplin with Beacon are just the greatest people on earth. They really care about mom and our family. They have a nurse on call 24/7 and you can call anytime you need help or just need to talk. Our CNA is the best, she is more a nurse than a can , the nurse really checks mom out , the social worker is always there if you need help and the Chaplin is jus the sweetest person. She comes in as often as possible to our home and sings to mom and asks her questions, like can I do anything for you . etc. They bring in wet washcloth wipes, creams , lotions, diapers, under pads, etc. Anything you need they will do there best to get it. But most of all is "YOU KNOW THEY ARE THERE" no matter what. Even in an ice storm they will come to your home if you need help or just need to talk. I can't say enough good about them. their the best!!
