Caring Stars Award Helps Seniors and Their Families Find America’s Top-Rated Senior Living Communities and Nursing Homes

Charlotte, NC; Nov. 17, 2020: To help seniors and their families research high quality senior living options, Caring.com — a leading senior living referral service and the nation’s top site for senior care reviews — today announced its annual list of the best senior living communities. The Caring Stars of 2021 include 156 communities in 37 states, with California, Texas, and Florida as the states with the most winners.

Caring Stars started in 2012 as the first of its kind in the senior living industry — 2021 is the 10th annual list. Caring Stars is an important go-to guide for consumers, recognizing service excellence at independent living, assisted living and memory care communities, as well as nursing homes. The Caring Stars badge of honor signals to seniors and their families that the community has earned high praise in online consumer ratings and reviews.

“With more than a decade of senior care expertise, we know that seniors and their families have a range of questions, concerns, and pressing needs when researching senior living communities,” said Caring.com’s CEO Jim Rosenthal. “Our high-integrity consumer reviews program and the Caring Stars annual guide are among the ways we provide relevant information and empathetic guidance.  This important information saves seniors and their families time, relieves feelings of stress, and instills confidence in decision-making, particularly if the need is urgent.”

Caring.com’s referral network data shows that the Caring Stars annual list helps seniors and their families quickly and easily identify senior living communities best poised to meet their needs. For 2019 and 2020, for example, the top-rated Caring Stars communities on average attracted twice as many new resident inquiries and three times as many move-ins as Caring.com community partners without the award.

To be considered for this distinguished list, Caring Stars 2021 communities meet a rigorous set of criteria, including: having 10 or more reviews, an average rating of 4.5 stars or higher, and 3 or more new reviews within the qualification time frame (at least one of those being a 5-star review and at least one published in 2020), as well as no unresolved negative reviews. All qualifying consumer reviews are fully visible to anyone on the web via the Caring.com listing on which they’re featured. In determining Caring Stars winners, Caring.com also conducts a reviews-integrity audit and takes other quality-assurance measures, including screening finalist communities using licensing and inspection reports on state agency websites (where applicable and data publicly available).

“Congratulations to every community that has achieved this level of service excellence! We are excited to recognize you, as you truly stand out among the best in the nation for 2021,” Rosenthal said.
