Full Review of Hydro Dimension’s Features

Hydro Dimension walk-in tubs come in a wide range of sizes catering to most needs with a comprehensive set of standard features. There are several optional therapy systems and additional special needs features.

Hydro Dimension Tub Series

There are two types of Hydro Dimension walk-in tubs: HD Series and HD Specialty Series.

HD Series

HD Series tubs come in a range of lengths, from a compact 29.5-inch unit up to a full-length 60-inch tub. The internal width is between 30 and 32 inches, and access is by a low-entry swing door.

HD Specialty Series

The Specialty series is for seniors and others with special needs. The main differences are an outwardly swinging door, a larger bathing area and greater water capacity.

Walk-in Tub Dimensions

Hydro Dimensions use a simple nomenclature to specify the tub’s nominal width and length. For example, a 2851 walk-in tub is 28 inches wide and 51 inches long, and a 3060 walk-in tub is 30 inches wide and 60 inches long.

A letter after the numerals indicates certain special features, as follows:

  • W: Wider than standard door
  • L: Low tubs without a seat that allow lying down during bathing
  • D: Extra-deep tubs that permit a deep soak
  • Plus: Extra-wide tubs

Standard Walk-in Tub Features

Walk-in tubs have the following standard features included in the price.

Construction and Finish

Hydro Dimension makes the tub’s body from fiberglass sheets finished with a durable, high-gloss gel coat. Walk-in tubs have a 17-inch-high seat for comfortable bathing and a robust grab bar for increased safety.

Faucets and Shower Head

The high-flow faucet fills most tubs in under 6 minutes. There’s a handheld shower wand and the option of a slider rail for handless operation.

Door and Handle

Standard tubs have an inwardly opening door, allowing easy access to the tub. Left- and right-hand doors are available. On specialty models, the door opens outward, and some have wider doors to ease access. Doors incorporate a fitted-for-life silicone door seal and an integrated door drain. There’s an ergonomically shaped door latch for opening and closing the door.

Therapy Options

Hydro Dimensions can fit its tubs with one or more special therapy packages.

Hydro Massage Therapy

This provides a deep tissue massage from adjustable pressure water jets placed strategically around the tub. The standard system has six jets but is customizable to 10 jets and controlled by an electronic control panel. An optional dual-jetted massage system has two separate hydrotherapy systems, one for upper and the other for lower body massage.

Air Massage Therapy

Using a variable-speed blower, air massage therapy soothes with 20 warm air jets spread around the tub. The warm air stimulates the production of endorphins and has a calming and healing effect on the body. Air therapy is a good choice for seniors who bruise easily.

Combined Air and Hydrotherapy

A dual massage therapy system combines air and hydro massage for both deep and soft tissue massage.

Pure Bubble Therapy

This therapy uses tiny air bubbles to stimulate collagen production and help skin regeneration. It’s ideal for people with dry skin, eczema and itchy rashes. Pure bubble therapy can be included with air or hydro massage therapy systems.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy treatment can be added to the air or hydrotherapy system. Air is drawn through the aromatherapy system and infuses the water with pleasant scents.

Chromotherapy

Light therapy can reduce stress and increase relaxation using colored LED lights. The system colors the water with one of twenty soothing colors, or all 20 colors can be cycled through while bathing.

Optional Walk-in Tub Upgrades

Available upgrades include the following:

  • Safe-T Drain™: A high-speed drain to empty the tub quickly
  • Heated backrest: A gently warming system to keep back warm during bathing
  • UV or ozone sanitation: A choice of UV or ozone sanitation systems to safely kill microorganisms and keep the tub clean
  • Custom shower rod and curtain: A custom rail and curtain for showering
  • Color matching: Choice of chrome, bronze, nickel or custom color finishes.

Who Should Consider Hydro Dimension Walk-in Tubs?

People With Mobility Issues

Hydro Dimension walk-in tubs are ideal for people who find it difficult to use a bath or regular shower. These include seniors, those recovering from surgery and people with limited mobility due to arthritis and related diseases. The easy-access door, built-in seat and grab bar allow people with mobility issues to bathe in comfort.

People Who Want or Need Air or Hydrotherapy

People of all ages can enjoy a gentle, soothing air therapy massage or the deep muscle relaxation of hydrotherapy. A walk-in tub is an asset to every household, especially as it can combine the functions of a bath and shower in one compact package.
