My uncle lived in Our Home Lac du Flambeau until he died recently. While the last few years of his life were difficult as he didn't know me and kept asking to see my mom who had died nearly 25 years earlier. He was happy at the facility. It isn't fancy and it doesn't have a lot of extra amenities that wow you, it's simple and the care is excellent. It is primarily for those with Alzheimer's so it fit for him. The facility was never dirty when I visited and I knew many of the nurses by name as there seemed to be very little turnover. I appreciated this as continuity is important for memory based patients. The location is a little out of the way, but it's not isolated and this is good as the day to day progression of life is often hard on those with Alzheimer's. The best thing is the natural scenery. Perhaps I am partial being born in the area, but I love the setting, it's so peaceful and scenic it's easy to lose yourself when you sit and look at the world here. Lac du Flambeau is one of those truly hospitable areas and I have never felt any level of danger for my uncle's well being as long as he has been there. Nice facility, good staff, great site.
