I go to Avalon Place Kirbyville all the time because I have a friend there. He's been a resident there for six years. What I like best is that they have a really good activity director. Also, for the most part, they have a good staff. They replace them if they're not doing what they're supposed to be doing. So the administrator there is very good at staying on top of having a good staff. My friend doesn't care for the way they cook the bacon. It's not crispy like he likes it. They have recently remodeled the place, and it looks really nice. They put new flooring in and everything. It wasn't much more expensive there than it is at an assisted living facility. They have RNs and LVNs to take care of the patients, while the assisted living doesn't have anything but nurse's aides. I was very impressed. My friend does everything in terms of activities. They sponsored Easter egg hunts, and all the kids went and hunted eggs and everything. I think that they really try to engage the community with their facility.
