I visited the facility with a volunteer group during the holidays. The staff seemed to be very willing to have us there and to help us out in any way. They were concerned about making sure that their residents had every opportunity to make their holidays more cheerful. The staff also made sure to give us information about various residents that would help our group to connect with them better during our visit. My only complaint is that they did not keep the nursing home clean enough. There was an overwhelming smell when you entered and toured. I have visited other nursing homes where there was no problem in keeping the smell down so that the residents did not have to feel embrassed.

My mother is in Pennknoll Village. The people are caring and good at what they do. There's skilled nursing and hospice care, so it can accommodate a number of stages. They are a little short staffed, but other than that, it's a good place. It could use some more maintenance, but everything's functional. The staff members are all very good, very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.

My mother entered Pennknoll as a 5 day stay hospice patient. She has been there two days and my family and I are getting her out of there before the 5 days. The staff does not care about the patients. They ignore requests like speaking to a nurse about your loved one. Even getting fresh water is a chore. I requested to speak to a social worker, in private, as to not upset my mom. That request was totally ignored. She barged in spoke her piece and got my mom upset. I found her in the hallway, told her I was upset and why and she said I could fill out a form! Total disrespect. I thought that a supposed professional would automatically speak in private, that would be the norm. Wrong! Disgusting place.

I don't even think this facility deserves one star, but that's the least I can give on here. This facility is BEYOND terrible. My mother was there for a couple months and not ONCE did she have dental care done. In fact, the day she was admitted, I placed a brand new unopened toothbrush and brand new toothpaste in and when she left 9 weeks later, it was still untouched. The aides only care about their plans for the weekend and what guy they are going to date next or who is better in bed. She was on the 100 hall and the aides were disgusting with their loud yelling in the halls and obscene speech and gestures. On numerous occasions I would go in and my mother was not changed and was laying in a wet brief with a soaked bed. This place is a sad excuse for someone's home. The smell is terrible and the staff doesn't care about the residents. NINE WEEKS WITHOUT HAVING YOUR TEETH BRUSHED?!????!! COME ON!!!!! That is uncalled for. My mother is in a much better nursing facility and I wouldn't send my dog or worst enemy to Pennknoll.
