Heritage Grove at Tahlequah is the one we went to see for my mother-in-law because it's local to her community, which she was more comfortable with. The place is nice, she's going with a 2-bedroom apartment, and it has room service. What I like about it is the aging-in-place concept. As her condition deteriorates, she doesn't have to move and their level of care increases with it. That way we can just fix her apartment up as fit. The staff members have all been very friendly and helpful in answering questions we had. I haven't had any issues with the staff and hopefully won't. The facility was very clean. It was built, I believe, in the 90s so it's not what I would call brand new, but it was very clean and well taken care of. There were some things that we thought they could have updated and maybe they will if they get the funding. We haven't eaten any food, but I understand that they do have an onsite chef Monday through Friday who does specials. They still have a menu and room service, so on the weekends, you order from that menu. Everybody we spoke to said that they liked the food so I am looking forward to my mother-in-law enjoying it. They have bingo, church, and a lot of activities there. They also have a van that can take them to different locations for activities if they want so they can get out and about if they are able.

Do not move your loved one into this facility unless you want to spend a great deal of time cleaning and caring for them. You will also have to repeat instructions over and over again because they do not seem to document anything. If you don't pay attention to details, they will not change bedsheets for several weeks. You will need to make sure you inspect the room before moving in to insure cleanliness and no odors. Many mistakes during the short stay of my loved one.

My parents will be moving into Heritage Grove at Tahlequah. The reason why I chose this facility and recommended it to my mother is because of the proximity to her community as well as mine. We both live in Tahlequah. The facility was clean. The person who gave the tour was very knowledgeable, very kind, and understanding. After I went on my tour, I took my mother back and they were very kind to my mom and made her feel quite at home. That's why she chose to go ahead and pay the community. There's like an initial fee to buy into the community. Their apartment was very nice, very clean, and modern-looking. The dining room was welcoming, as well as the public area. They had a nice fireplace and cozy seating arrangement that was welcoming for people to socialize. The outside of the building was pleasing to the eye and well-manicured and maintained. We did not try the food. We looked at the menu and there were daily specials, but there were also things that they could order off a little menu, like hamburgers, salads, that kind of thing. They have a chef that prepares the meals. A couple of the residents said that the food was very good. They have a beauty shop there. They have organized activities. They have an activities director. They have transportation to take the residents shopping to Wal-Mart and local shops. They also can take patients two days a week for doctor's appointments and that kind of thing. They made us feel very welcome. There was only one drawback that I can say and I asked them about it and they said it would be taken care of. A client had recently moved out and the apartment kind of had an odor of urine, but they said they were going to call in a company to steam clean everything and take care of that. They were very upfront. The staff was very welcoming and friendly.

We toured Heritage Grove at Tahlequah for my mom, and it's fantastic. The contact person, Brett, has answered every question and more that I've had. He's been available every time I call and has just been outstanding. They had bingo night and movie night. They also had a day trip and went to Walmart. They had game night. They had a lot of different activities chosen by the community members. The menu looks really, really nice. I like the fact that it is restaurant style dining. They don't feel like they're in a cafeteria where they have to eat whatever. They get to choose and order what they want. They have a beautiful courtyard. There is a hair salon for the ladies to go get their hair done. Their staff were all very pleasant throughout.
