I visited Alpine House of West Union for assisted living, but it's not the kind of care Mom would need. You've got to be able to do some stuff on your own there. It was dreary and dark. I didn't like the looks of it. They only have one or two nurses there, and all they do is give the medications out to the people, and that's about it. They don't draw blood work or do anything like that. The one who helped me tour the facility was all right. The rooms were decent, but they were kind of dark. They can make them look better. It used to be an old hospital, and they remodeled it. They've done a lot of updates to it, but it looked a lot better when it was a hospital. I wouldn't want to live there.

The tour we had at Alpine House of West Union was fine. The room wasn't bad. They didn't usually have a lot of people that would go eat in the main dining area or anything and there's not an outside area for them to go. They could walk to the town and stuff but that was pretty much it. They did crafts and stuff. They had a theater room. Compared to the other two facilities we went to, this place was a lot darker and not bright. It's not a place that we want to go to. It just needs to be more cheerful, but the staff was good.

My relative will be moving into Alpine House of West Union. They gave us the tour the other day and my relative loved it. The other residents were very friendly. The staff was absolutely helpful to her. They answered all her questions. They asked her some questions and decided which level of care would be the best for her. Each room had 2 dressers, a wardrobe, and a twin-sized bed. It also had a microwave, a refrigerator, a bathroom, and a shower. They had a theater room where they served popcorn. They had a pool room where they could play pool and different games. And then they had an actual craft room where they could do individual crafts or do karaoke nights. They had a beauty salon, but they didn't have a beautician that came in. So, you kind of have to either do it yourself or you have to get somebody to come and do it. They could go out if they wanted to do family visits and then come back.

Alpine House of West Union was a wonderful facility. They have all the standard activities or if the residents needed something else, they would provide that for them. The staff was friendly, caring, and compassionate. The apartments were very cozy and homey.
