I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved into Miller Farm Place. It has been great. The employees are very helpful, and the communication is good. I bought a bed and actually, they put it together for me. One reason I came here is that they do accept cats. I have a cat, and they do not charge for the cats, while almost every place else charges for cats. I got the smallest apartment, but there's room for a queen-sized bed. I chose to get a full-size bed instead. It has one window looking out over the backyard, a good-sized bathroom that I can turn around in, and an open shower, without the tub, and a very small kitchenette, but it has a refrigerator and microwave, so it's big enough for anything I would need because they provide all the meals. There's an area big enough for my recliner, TV, and a small kitchen-style table. It's adequate for my needs, for one person. The activities are great. I haven't been on an outing from here, but as I understand it, they do have outings to different things in the area. But here, just about once a week, we do some sort of crafts, and they have chair exercises that we do. We had a karaoke, one of the nurses performed, he sang different songs, and we could either sing along or just listen, or sing it ourselves. That was nice. They have bingo, cards, those types of things, and games and puzzles. They're very active about it. If they're going to have an activity and you aren't there, they come and knock on the door and ask if you want to come. So, they're very good. The activities director is great. So far, almost all of the meals have been great and they're hot. There's a cook on site that does the cooking there. It's not food that's made, frozen, and brought in. They have fruits every day, at least once a day, and they have plenty of vegetables. The food's good, and it's seasoned well. I'm very pleased with the food. Everything is well maintained, and housekeeping does a great job. I'm just very pleased with it. It's in a nice area, and the facility is great. Also, it's not too big, It's only got like 45 residents, so it's not as big as some of the others were.

Miller Farm Place was all on one floor. They provide music once a week, and actually they were playing bingo when we went to visit. So they do other activities along with it. They have a vehicle that will take them to doctors' appointments or over to the grocery, or wherever they need to go. The guy that we talked to was very nice and very knowledgeable. He showed everything and explained everything to us. We even talked about a couple other things that have to do with assisted living, just questions that we had, and he answered all of them. It was very clean.

What I liked about Miller Farm Place was that it was clean and modern, and it was all on one level. I thought it was a smaller facility with 42 rooms and it made it feel a little bit more personal. It's assisted living and, from the outward appearance, it looked pretty nice. The person who showed us around was very informative and seemed like he knew what he was talking about. He was a middle-aged man who's been doing this for, I believe, 15 or 20 years, so he had quite a bit of experience. He's only been at Miller Farm for a year but he made it sound like it was a nice place. They've also partnered with a nonprofit network system in Dayton, and there are only like 5 assisted living facilities that they do that with so that was kind of a selling point for me, too. The facility is a gigantic box with 42 rooms so it's pretty easy to get around. I've been to other places too and I just think it was laid out the proper way.

I have been to Miller Farm Place. I liked the staff and Gil. He was very informative and gave us a lot of information. What I didn't like was the darkness of the rooms. They were very dark and gloomy, and it would not be a fit for my brother. The whole place was just very gloomy. The lighting was poor. I saw patient interaction, and it was really good there. It was clean, and everything else was satisfactory. It's rather small, but that's OK. The dining room was small, and the rooms were small. The exercise and activitiy rooms were also small.

One advantage that we saw with Miller Farm was that we felt like had my mom been there, the chances are that she would have been attended to much more quickly than she was at the other facility. The staff members there were very, very nice. There was a family feel to the whole situation, so that was a plus. The apartment was quite a bit smaller than the one she had at the other facility. Honestly, the price was higher, which I found to be quite surprising. One of the things that made us consider them was that they actually told us that they could offer to maintain her care pretty much whether she passed the line from assisted to nursing care; they could continue to care for her there. My mom is kind of on that line between assisted living and a nursing home. We didn't want to move her somewhere if she declined. I guess they advertise assisted living, but the sales guy there told us that they were fully equipped to care for her even if she needed skilled nursing. Their facility was not impressive, I'm not saying it wasn't clean, but it looked very rundown, and it wasn't cosmetically attractive at all. We were standing right next to the dining room, so we observed a lunch meal. They didn't have the restaurant-style dining that some of the other places had where you could choose. From a menu, they were pretty much all getting a standard meal unless they had special dietary needs. We knew that my mom would never be content with the food situation the way it was.

Miller Farm Place was extremely nice. I really like this place, but it was very dated. There were no bells and whistles. It was small, but it was nice and clean. Everyone was friendly. The residents there were eating when I was there. They were all at their tables together, talking, and congregating; it was very nice. I saw a studio, so it would be a shared room and a shared bathroom. It was much, much too small and much too close quarters. It would be like two ladies living together. It was not a good thing at all because this particular one, the lady had all her stuff and it was spread out into the other space too; the lady knew that she would have to bring her stuff back over to her area. Very few people would be very happy in that situation. I did get to see another room and it was just one room. It had a nice bathroom and a nice kitchenette area, which would be perfect. They didn't have any space available, like if we wanted to do something right away. They also did not take Medicaid. The staff during the tour was extremely helpful. He went above and beyond giving me information and giving me cards of other people that I could contact. He even gave me a follow-up phone call to answer some of my questions from the tour. He said I could call him any time if there was anything else he could help with. He was just a really nice man. The place was nice and dated. It was very cozy, like you're going into grandma's house. The outside was beautiful. The outside was a little deceiving. It had very beautiful landscaping and everything, but you go in and it's like going to grandma's house. It was nice though.

I went to Miller Farm Place, and the rooms were smaller for the price and kind of a little bit higher for the levels of care. The guy we met with was nice, and everything went very well. Everything was really cute and nice. I don't remember them having many activities. They don't have room for it. When they do activities, they would do it in the dining room. But from what I heard, a lot of people participate in it. I talked to a couple of staff members, we went after hours, too, so it was kind of late. There weren't a lot of people there, but everyone was nice. The facility is clean and neat, and they had things decorated nicely. Maybe have a room for therapy, I don't believe they have a room for that yet. I think they were working on getting one. It might be in the works for them, a therapy room for physical therapy and occupational therapy.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother moved into Miller Farm Place in Dayton last month. The amount of what I am getting for my money was better than what we had before. She has a bedroom with an attached bathroom now and a private bath. She also has a small sitting room and a small kitchenette. She didn't have all of that in her old location, so for the amount we spent, she is definitely getting a lot more here. She said she is satisfied with the food. I haven't got the chance to try it because they are still in their protocols for the virus. Visiting is still only by appointment, so you can't really go and see the building other than on the move-in day. They still don't have people eating in their general dining room, but I know they're getting close to starting that up again. They have activities that are curtailed due to the virus, but they are getting ready to start those up in full. The way the facility is laid out, they have TVs in different wings, in the halls, that residents could look at if they don't already have one in their rooms. They have a cafeteria that is not being used that much right now because of the virus. They also have a sitting room with a fireplace and an exercise area.

My mom still lives at Miller Farm Place. It's very well-kept, small, very clean and has a lot of socializing for her. She seems to be OK there. They serve three meals a day. There's not enough staff, but they seem to be very attentive and very nice.

It is a very nice facility. The staff members are very pleasant people. The only thing I don’t like is they have separate rooms even though their residents have Alzheimer’s. They do have aides who can go into the rooms if someone needs help, though.
