We toured Good Samaritan Society - Park River. The independent living part was super nice. They could get their meals there, and they could also go join with the nursing home for activities. They do activities in the nursing home area, so it's kind of different there. They had bingo, card games, movies, and church services. The staff who gave us the tour was very, very nice, and very congenial. She showed us whatever there was to see there. We saw the dining room and the kitchen. They had a menu, but you couldn't order certain things. If you had a special diet, they fixed that. They had a garden. People could go out and sit in the front garden. It's like a covered veranda porch, and then they had a big garden out there with flowers and shrubs. The people in the independent place can have a little garden in their own area. You bring your own furniture. Some have kitchens, some are smaller, and some are larger that have two bedrooms. Most of them are one bedroom, and they are the smaller ones. But the bigger ones have kitchenettes in them, so you could do your own cooking or you could eat there, whichever you prefer.
