My mother was at Spring Arbor Outer Banks. It's pretty much the only assisted living facility here in the Outer Banks. It's about ten years old, but it's very well maintained. The food was good, and they had a lot of activities. The staff member was great. She was a resident there for a little while, but it didn't work. It was not a good fit at the time, but they helped us with move in and move out. They're very accommodating. Her apartment had a living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom, which was quite spacious, and it had a microwave and a small refrigerator. They had bingo, a salon, arts and crafts, exercises, and singing. They worked very well with us, and they made a few exceptions for us, which was great.

I felt it was an ok place. The staff seemed friendly and helpful for the most part. The inside seemed out dated and cold though. There was a nice porch and drive way. When you went in it seemed and felt like an old Sunday school classroom. It was clean but off putting and did not have that feeling of home and comfort. When we checked our friend in the nurse helping kind of just stared at us not knowing what to do next. Yet, she did have a big smile and she was polite. So we unpacked our friend and looked around. They had different rooms for activities, but again not very appealing and loving. It seemed more like they did just enough to look like a qualified place. There was no true thought or heart and soul in the facilities set up to truly provide a comfortable and loving place to be during a period like that in your life. I believe along with great loving care you should have a complimentary atmosphere. I personally would not enjoy staying there. It would be more of somewhere you would have to deal with being.

My family and I visited Spring Arbor this past June when we were on vacation in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. My husbands aunt is a resident there since her husband passed away this past winter and she did not want to live alone and wanted to be around people that were her own age so she could stay social and have help around if she needed. She has a great one bedroom apartment to herself and has all the staff around if she needs anything. When we visited the facility we were so impressed with all that they have to offer, how nice it looked, and the wonderful staff that they had. The staff was always right on top of things if we wanted anything. We ate lunch there with her and the food and the facility were really great. The food was tasty and we had options as to what we wanted. My aunt-in-law loves all that she has the opportunity to do. She gets to play bingo, go shopping, get her nails done, go to movies, and go for wonderful walks in this beautiful area. I would love to be a resident of this facility someday if I lived in this region. It is so beautiful and the services are top notch.

Spring Arbor is a very well kept faciltiy. The Cottage where my mom is, the nurses and staff are very condsiderate, kind and they make it feel like your are in a regular home. They are doing things with all the residents in the cottage. I would strongly recommend Spring Arbor to anyone.

This assisted living facility was very nice and so were the staff. I felt very welcome and at home. I feel that my grandmother is in very good hands and that this is the best place for her to spend the end of her life. This facility is very nicely designed and landscaped. It is located near the beach which makes it a relaxing place for me to enjoy coming to visit my grandmother. The atmosphere is very enjoyable and she enjoys the people around her very much. The rooms are set up for the patients so that they feel like homey, as much as possible. The staff treat my grandmother as she is their family, which makes me feel that she is in a safe place. The food is very good and they change the meals up so the residents do not have to eat the same thing every day. This is the perfect assisted living place for my grandmother to be and I am so happy for her.

This facility was very clean and bright and cheery. It is located in a beach community and the decor reflected that. My mother-in-law lived there for a couple of years and she was well taken care of and treated well. Many of the care takers became our friends. The food was good and the activities were great. She wasn't able to participate in them after a while but enjoyed them while she was able to do so. They now have an Alzheimer's wing which they didn't have while she lived there so we had to move her at the end stages of her life. i would recommend this facility to others.
