My husband was in the memory care unit of Hayesville House, the last three months of his life, and I put in the paper how wonderful they were to him. That is a wonderful facility for people with memory problems. It's excellent in every way. Some people had been there for a long time. It's for memory care, but once you get to where you are bedridden, they keep you all through the last stages of your life. They keep you even when you get to a point of being in a nursing home. Once you're in there, they don't send you out to go to a nursing home when you get to that point. Even hospice can come in the last stages of one's life. What I liked best about them is their care for the patients. Not only for my husband, but I would also see the way they treated other people. When my husband passed in January, I didn't have his memorial until April, but the manager of the facility and her assistant all came to my house for the memorial. The food was good, the care was good, and there was never a smell in there. My husband's room was kept clean all the time, and they kept him clean, too. They have a beauty and barber shop. During Halloween, they let people dress up. I also went down and had Thanksgiving dinner with them, and it was really good. They take care of the people. It was not just my husband, but everyone in there got that kind of care. We were private-pay, but a lot of people were on Medicaid, and they accepted them, too.
