My mom is currently in Roscoe, its a private nursing home, and it's a smaller place. What's nice about it is that everything about it, from the molding and wallpaper, to the dining facility, is very homey. There are lots of places for the residents to go and sit, they have fireplaces, big French doors, and lovely outdoor areas that are contained. It's just a different senior place, but it's nice. Some of the staff have been there for years and years which is good. They also have a beautiful solarium which is to die for. It's on the second floor where all the residents are. It's like this greenhouse with all the plants, and there's plenty of rooms for wheelchairs, or places to sit in the wicker chairs. I imagine it's pretty nice during the summer, but it's really nice during the spring. The staff is very nice and accommodating, we met the dietician, and she's wonderful, plus the food is amazing.

I have only really seen the day program and the areas leading to/from it. However, it is always clean and seems well maintained. The staff, particularly in the day program, are friendly and helpful. They seem to respect the adults that are there and are gentle or appropriate with them. Possibly the most telling, no one seems like they have anything to hide or wonder excessively who I may be or why I am there. This is a VERY nice change from the vast majority of places I go to see clients.
