I visited her often before I moved away. The faculty was very friendly despite my family's attitude towards the situation. She had her own bathroom and shower of course and the staff tried to bathe her daily. She was prone to fits when it came to baths so sometimes it was impossible. She was hard for them to handle but they always smiled and dealt wither her gently. It was always very clean there as well. The able tenants ate together in the dining hall and the food was not bad at all. In the living room there was a giant big screen TV and there were checker boards set up all over the place. In the back they had a small garden for fresh veggies. It being a big agriculture community in Hatch I think it was a sweet idea to give the older people something to cultivate and look forward too. Over all the staff was friendly and forgiving. My family created many problems behaving selfishly and childishly and my Great Grandma was not the easiest person living there. She got it in her head that one of other members was her boyfriend and lived out fantasies that would sometime cause problems. Sometimes she would confide that the staff was trying to kill her, they just laughed it off and said that its not surprising, dementia patients sometimes think that. I found that this was one of the nicest places to be, it was very peaceful. Hatch is a really small town, more like a village, but Mom & Dad's was in a gorgeous house-the biggest one there. Every tenant had their won room decorated to their liking so it didn't feel like a bad place. I will always look back on it with good memories. My Great Grandma died in February, the staff found, she died in her sleep. I am happy she died in a peaceful place away from the rest of the family who didn't treat her very well. I think despite her foul moods it was a good place for her.
