The Villas of Jackson

My parents have moved into The Villas of Jackson. I think they're doing okay. It is just an adjustment, but they seem to be doing some things with the group more so, and I think it is going as good as can be expected for now. I like that they have a lot of activities for them to do. If I think about spending all my time in one place, that doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but they have so many things going on. They also have outside resources that come in. In addition to going to doctor's appointments, my dad had to have some blood work done, and they were able to just get somebody to come to the villas and do the blood work rather than me taking him out. So, it's really been good for them to be around people still, and it's given me some extra time to take care of some other things for them. So, I think it's been really good. It was the best one that I found because that's what I would want for them. The staff members have been doing great. They contact me every time something goes on that they think I should know about, so I think it's good. I have not tried their food, but I sat with them when they ate before, and they seemed to like it. I don't have anything negative to say about the facilities. Everything is clean. They have helped to get some pictures hung. If they needed help with things, they seemed to come and take care of it right away. They have phones there, but it's different than the phones they were used to, so they had people who came in and went over that with them. I think it's all been good. For activities, they have bingo and puzzle things. They have times when they get together and play cards. I thought it was neat that they had some movie time and popcorn, and anybody who wanted to come out to the main lobby and watch that on the big TV. They have our local football games. They had those on TV last Friday. My dad would always like to go to those, but of course, he can't really go to them. So, I thought that it was neat that they put that on their television so that my parents could watch the football games. Regarding value for money, it's not cheap, but they're doing so much. You can't really put a value on somebody taking care of your loved one.

My mom is at The Villas of Jackson. It's wonderful. They have a very caring staff, and they are constantly doing activities and keeping them busy. They take them on van rides in the country, sometimes they have barbecues, they do facials, they have people come and do their nails, and they have a salon on site. The memory care is a fairly new facility. I think they told me they opened in December, so the rooms are very clean, and they're spacious. Each resident has their own room and bathroom, and then we could bring furniture from her house to set it up like her own. My mom loves the food. They have a cook on site who loves to make desserts, and every time I ask her, she says the food is really, really good. They get to order what they want for breakfast, they're in a dining room, and they are served like in a restaurant.
