"They’ve just remodeled Rice Care, so it’s nice. They’ve got a lot of people on the waiting list. Their rooms are good, and some of the older ones might be a little bit smaller. The administrators were pleasant and knowledgeable. They had little outings, Bible studies, and had people come in and do programs. "

"My mom has been at Bethesda Heritage Center for about a month. It's a very nice place and Mom gets excellent care, so we're very happy with it. The staff is excellent. My mom's room is a very nice, small single room with her own bathroom and shower. There are different types of rooms. They have bingo, cards, arts and crafts and exercise classes. They have buses for those who are able to use them to take them out for excursions."

"My father stayed at Bethesda before he passed away. It was a great place. It had very nice people. They were very attentive, helpful, and very friendly. He was in a private room. It was a small rehab room. I had not eaten there, but my sister did, and she thought it was really good. I saw their list of activities, and they had bingo, music nights, and church services. The counselors and the case managers stood out for me. "

"Prairie Senior Cottages of Wilmar Minnesota are assisted living cottages. The décor and appearance of the living spaces is very homey and residents really enjoy the autonomy of having their own space with the security of knowing that staff is available 24 hours per day if they ever need anything. I am in the social service field and have seen many facilities, this one is very nice and clean and the staff is attentive to the needs of residents. The seniors I visited were happy that they could continue to cook their own meals and do normal activities of daily living, just as they did before they moved there, but with help available when needed. Seniors were involved in planning and preparing their favorite meals, which made them feel more like they were in their own home environment. Some of the living environments were set up for communal living for those with memory loss, but I visited seniors who lived in the more apartment units with private bathrooms."

"My mother has been here for a little over a year. She is very happy there, she has a very nice room with her own bathroom facilities.. Their staff treats the residents like family, they are very caring and always concerned with their health and happiness. There are plenty of activities that provide social interaction. "My mother moved to the independent living community of Melrose Park View Place. I liked the staff because they're very professional and friendly. They try to help as much as they can, and I like that. We were there one day when we had a storm issue pop up, and I was really impressed with how fast they were able to get everybody in the main hallways on the main floor so they were safe. That was a big deal to me. I haven't found anything I don't like about the place. I know they check on my mom at least twice a day, but she takes her own medicines. The staff is very caring. I visited her on Friday because we had a little health scare. They called me right away and asked if I wanted to come down and make sure she's okay. I headed over there, and they were there to explain what symptoms she had. They were very helpful. I tasted the food and it was very good. The community is very clean, and they keep it up really well. Everything looks like it's in its place and nice. I like it a lot, and Mom seems to like it too. The layout of the rooms is very easy for the older folks to navigate. They're all very well set up and kept up nicely. They all have windows that you can see out of, and air conditioning, the whole works, so it's very nice. They have an exercise class just about every day of the week except Saturday and Sunday. They've had ice cream socials, music events, and all kinds of stuff like that. Every week there's something. Above all, I do appreciate the staff there. They are very caring, and they're fun to be around. They even joke with the folks who are living there, and they just make it enjoyable. It's a nice place."

"I am staying in the Cura of Melrose nursing home. Some of the things I like are the people, the nurses, and the excellent food. They really care about you. The rooms are good, and they have an outside cover, too, for when it's raining or snowing. They provide food and diapers, and you have a choice as to whether you want your laundry done by them or if you want your family to do it for you. We have a beauty shop open two days a week. We also have an activity department that sets up bingo and other things like that."

"Staff:The Glenwood Retirement Village is almost always understaffed. Almost all of the Certified Nursing Assistants and Trained Medical Assistants are in high school. They are apparently unreliable, calling in all the time and not showing up. Also, leadership does not replace them.Amenities:Glenwood Retirement Village has a great activities department. They are often bringing residents to outings, not just entertaining on site. When they do entertain on site, they often bring in outside entertainment that is very lively and exciting. I cannot speak on the dietary amenities. A lot of the equipment is older, but staff does a good job of utilizing it appropriately.Facilities:The building is, of course, pretty old. It is laid out really well though. It is, to my knowledge, the only facility with an Alzheimer's unit in the area. They do very good work in this unit, called the "Rainbow Unit". Also, they divide station 1 and station 2 very appropriately. One is for longer term residents needing more care and one is for short term stays. "
