The Best Memory Care Communities in Greene County, PA

"We toured Beechwood Court at Lafayette Manor and we were looking for assisted living, but they have dementia care and different levels in assisted living. It was bigger and had more clients than the other ones we visited. The staff doesn't have a high turnover and they seemed very happy there. They had a beautiful dining room, and the facility was very nice looking. They have outdoor space and indoor activities. The only complaint I had about it was that the common areas on the floor we toured were small compared to the number of people on the floor. It reminded me very much of a sort of hospital kind of setup. But they still had the personalized things around their door and all that you could do. I saw that clients were hanging out in the hallway. which is kind of strange to me. The staff gave us her personal story, too, about why she likes it so much there. And you could tell there was a very good rapport between the clients and the staff and that they seemed to care, which was nice. So, from that perspective, it was very good. My mother liked the place, but I didn't because of its institutional feel. It was very clean. Some of the rooms appeared to be older than others, I don't know if they did some redecorating or what. The staff ratio was good, and their pricing was in a good ballpark for the care and the different levels they had. It was also convenient for shopping and to the hospital. We asked some of the people living there and they said that some days the food is good and some days not."

"I enjoyed meeting with the marketing director of Paramount Senior Living at Peters Township. He spent two and a half hours with us, went over everything, and toured us in the facility. I was somewhat familiar with the facility already from a few years ago and I was very pleased. They have the standard amenities that they do for an assisted living, like medications, incontinence monitoring, and helping with dressing. They did not offer any food at this time because of the restrictions, I guess because of Covid. Normally, they would offer for you to come to lunch or dinner, but at this time, they are not letting family members join in the meals."

"I like Arden Courts of Jefferson Hills. As far as facilities go, I thought they were topnotch. I like the lady there. She was very helpful and patient. The rooms were very pleasant, nice, and clean. They had a square area in the middle of the building."

"The Grand Residence was absolutely beautiful and served my grandfather well at the end of his life. The grounds were meticulous kept and I always felt that the place was kept clean. I never noticed any bad smells or hospital-like settings that some nursing homes have. One nice amenity was the cafeteria, as we were able to dine with my grandfather. The food was restaurant quality, which was a nice surprise, as I was expecting hospital like quality. We would frequently bring our small, well behaved dog to visit, and the staff and residence were always excited and welcoming to her. It was nice for my grandfather to be able to visit with our family pets, as we know this would not have been available in many places. We were so pleased with his care, that upon his death, we donated to the residence of the facility. Although the price for the facility was quite high, we felt that it was in line with the care that my grandfather received. Having visited other nursing homes that charged much less, I felt much more at ease with the Grand Residence. It was truly a home away from home, as opposed to a hospital or hospice. "

"We toured Celebration Villa of Lakemont Farms for my father-in-law. It's very, very clean and they have friendly people. I like their dining area. The room is small, neat, and orderly. It smells good. I thought that the dining area was very clean, orderly, non-institutional, and friendly. I like that it's a single floor. That's what I like best- that it only has one floor."

"My mom moved into Harmony at Morgantown. The staff was very good. They have quite a few activities. They've had people come in and sing and entertain them. They've got all kinds of different things, games and entertainment. We haven't signed up for everything yet. She's only been there a month, but that was one of the attractions, that they had so much entertainment because otherwise, they just sit around bored."
