This facility, while it may seem dated from the outside, is filled with love and care on the inside. The staff is going above and beyond during the COVID 19 pandemic to help residents speak to family members due to the governors orders of not allowing visitors. During each visit every staff member had all PPE on even when meeting me outside. While doing activities is difficult during this trying time, the activities department has still come up with ways for the residents to still be able to do them.

I was a short-term resident at Chesapeake Shores following spinal surgery. My experience there was horrific. Staff refused to give meds, including my IV antibiotics. Physical therapy never showed up to evaluate me. I witnessed elderly patients in various stages of undress wandering the facility unattended. The facility is just filthy. It reeks of raw sewage. My roommate with dementia was completely ignored. I was left on a bed pan for over an hour. The charge nurse told me that Medicare patients are not her responsibility and that I should shut the F up or go back to the hospital. I chose to go back to the hospital. Since then, Chesapeake Shores has been found to be non-compliant with federal and state guidelines by the OHCQ and cited for abuse. Do not send your loved ones here.

Chesapeake Shores was horrible. It had a smell and had a different element of people and not as professional. The people were helpful to my mother and my sister in answering their questions. The environment is definitely not upscale.

Our grandmother was in this place, it is cold and dreary some of the aides were great ,but some lack professionalism , there is no homey comfortable space for the residents ,our grandmother would eat breakfast and they put her to bed ,eat lunch and they would put her to bed ,eat supper and they would put her to bed ,never did she sit in a recliner or anything of the sort , We had came to visit our grandmother and when we arrived she was very cold and all they had on her was a short sleeved thin t shirt that was 2 sizes to small and u could see right thru it ,we went to the lunchroom with her and it was so dreary , I went around opening the mini blinds so the residents could look outside ,my point is this people pay good money to stay in this place and they should have an area that feels like home ,and I mean a couch and recliners and comfortable ,but this is not the case with Cheasepeak Shores. After our visit with our grandmother we decide we are going to bring her home with us back to kansas (1200) miles away .It takes us 30 days to get it all worked out, so we return to Lexington Park to retrieve our grandmother the aides get her things ready and the Nurse goes over her Medicine with us .And the Social Worker well we see her for a mere few seconds and then dont see her again ,no-one attempts to help us get her outside or loaded into the vehicle, very unprofessional sorry to say ,we now have our 93 year old grandmother at home with us ,and she has improved tremendously ...so if your thinking of putting you family member in a facility ,please reconsider another facility , one that is comfortable and will feel like a home to them ,because this place is not like that.
