St. Mary's Nursing Center

My father is going to St. Mary's for a short stay for respite care. They're very helpful and accommodating on the phone. My mother and sister found the place very nice. We will know more after my dad's stay there.

I am very displeased with this facility! Unfortunately, it is the only one in our area. The place is old and outdated and always smells horrible. My grandmother is on the third floor, I guess that is where they keep all the patients with similar diseases. We go to visit her atleast twice a week and there have been times where we have walked into her room and it stunk so bad, that we had to walk out. It literally smelled like she had been in her soiled diaper for hours. She would have her lunch all of her face and gowns as well. It was kind of ironic how the nurses would walk in and check on her while we visisted. To me it felt like an act. On numerous occasions, my dad would go to the nurses desk and chew them out for allowing her to be so filthy. SOme days we would visit and she would be in the day room, basically pushed off into a corner and left by herself. I was completely disgusted by the way she was treated; I can't believe human beings can be so cruel to those who are sick and dying. If I had it my way, i would make those nurses walk around in soiled diapers for hours and see how they liked it. THe only reason i gave this facility 2 stars is because i am sure that there are worse nursing centers than this one.
