"For six years my father was a resident of Holiday Resort. We visited him often. Overall, I believe that he was very well cared for from the time he entered the residence until the day he passed away. One of the things that I appreciated most about this facility was the monthly newsletter. This was sent to all family members and it gave us a calendar of the events that were being held. Each month, the staff worked hard to give the residents a variety of activities to participate in. Some of the favorites were the fireworks on the fourth, trick or treating, pie and ice cream social, and the monthly sing alongs. From a young age, my sons became comfortable visiting their grandpa. One of them entertained with a group from his violin class. Another aspect was that they also provided a lot of physical activities for the residents. For example, there were spelling bees, senior olympics, bingo and nature walks for those able. I appreciated the staff. Each month I was invited to a meeting where my father's care was discussed. They worked very hard to keep him as active as possible with walking and exercise. Towards the end of his life, either I or my husband set up a vigil by his bedside. The nurses and other attendants were very quiet when they entered and provided us with anything we needed. I was by my father's side when he took his last earthly breath. Overall, this was a wonderful last home for my father. I couldn't have asked for anything more. The only drawback was that the home changed hands at least three times during Dad's stay. This did cause some problems with his insurance, Medicare and the payments. Other than this, I would fully recommend Holiday Resort for anyone needing a nursing home. "

"Flint Hills is where my mom used to work. They keep the rooms clean, but they are not spacious and the price is not really reasonable. They have three dining rooms, and you just get to pick whichever one you want to sit in. I think this place is safe and secure enough for my mom. "

"I stayed at Emporia Presbyterian Manor for two weeks when I was recuperating from my knee. The facility was really nice. I had a big room to myself. I could have eaten in the dining room, but they brought me my food because I was having some trouble walking. The nurses were very intelligent. It was just a very nice facility. They have a lovely dining room, and their food is good. They have activities all the time. In fact, they keep inviting me over there to their activities. They have several programs and different clubs. They have a community room. They have a chapel. They have church services. "

"We went to look at Homestead of Emporia. We went through all the facilities and amenities they had. They had different options for rooms and kind of walked us through what kind of care they would provide. They have a salon in there. They were in the midst of an activity. They had church services, movie nights, and various activities. It was pretty comfortable there. I didn't see anybody who was not being taken care of or anything. They have a cleaning staff."

"Wyndham Place is an apartment complex, so there is not really much staff there. They have a maintenance guy, a manager, and office people during the day. It's a very nice apartment complex, honestly. They don’t offer food, so he takes care of his own food. They do a lot of activities, and so that keeps him involved with other people. They have a calendar of the different events that they are doing each day, and he has been really involved with them. "

"I moved into Homestead Senior Residences Marion. It's low income and it's senior living. If you have a disability and you're not a senior and you reached that income level, you're qualified to move in here as well. I have a friend who is only 33 and she is permanently disabled, and the manager told me that she meets the requirements to move in here. My apartment is beautiful and it is carpeted. They just remodeled. There's new carpeting in the living room and the bedroom. The bathroom and kitchen are not carpeted; they're vinyl flooring. It's very nice. You could pay them $28 a month and have cable. They have a fitness room, a pool table, and a dining area. Twice a month, the manager does a sit-down meal where all the apartments are. For example, on Thursday, she's doing a ham dinner for Christmas. They have a laundry facility. They have areas where you're allowed dogs. If it's a support pet and you have documentation, you do not pay a pet deposit. They have an area for your dogs and the people are amazing here. They make you feel right at home. I could not have chosen a better place. Amy is wonderful. I rate this place a five plus, along with the staff and the town itself. They have a small fitness room, pool table, puzzles, and TV rooms."
