Initial and ongoing training is provided through Relias Learning. Reports can be pulled from Relias at any time.
What programs or activities does Garden View Place offer to enrich residents' well-being?
Garden View Place offers at least six activities per day, ranging in type and led by our energetic Life Enrichment Coordinator. Signature programs include Live 2 B Healthy senior exercise classes and Music Speaks music therapy sessions.

Garden View Place is located in Monona, IA. Much of the community's attention is focused around activities and events held by the school district, MFL-Mar-Mac.

Garden View Place has a community van that is used for appointments and outings. For larger groups, a bus is rented.

Garden View Place's menus are planned and prepared by our Culinary Coordinator, in conjunction with registered dietitians with Martin Brothers. Menu items and snacks are based on resident preference and feedback.

What is the care staff-to-resident ratio at Garden View Place during daytime and nighttime hours?
Garden View Place staffing fluctuates based on resident care needs and time of day. All staffing data can be easily analyzed by our Health Care Coordinator via our electronic medical record, PointClickCare.
If Garden View Place accepts dogs or cats, what indoor/outdoor areas can they enjoy?
Garden View Place is a pet friendly community welcoming dogs, cats, birds and fish. Pets are primarily limited to the resident's apartment, and will never be allowed in dining or food preparation areas. Outdoor space is also available.

How many staffers are on duty in the daytime and overnight?
There is always at least 1, if not 2, Memory Care staff in the program at all times.

Garden View Place Memory Care uses a combination of door alarms and notifications via Stanley Security and PointClickCare. There is always at least 1 staff member in the Memory Care program, 24 hours per day.
What programs or activities does Garden View Place offer to keep residents engaged? How does the staff engage residents' long-term memories?
Garden View Place utilizes a "Life Story" document to learn of the residents' pasts and hobbies. These are used for daily activity planning and redirecting. Music therapy is a staple in our Memory Care program.
Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?
Our Health Care Coordinator (RN) does initial, 30-day and ongoing assessments for all residents. Assessments can be requested at any time and also occur any time there is a change in condition.

Garden View Place utilizes brightly colored plates in Memory Care to differentiate from the food provided. Sample plates and images are used to help residents make choices regarding their meals. Snacks and beverages are offered consistently.
