"I didn’t like Prairie Place since you have to buy your own air conditioner. It was a nice place, though, that offered meals and other services according to how much assistance you need, but there is a price list for that, too. There is a farm at the back of it with crops and stuff growing. "

The unit we are taking is a townhouse unit but is just 1 floor. The garage is underneath us. We have 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a kitchen, a dining room, a den-living room with a fireplace, and a laundry facility right in the unit. There is a balcony and a chair lift going up and down the stairs."

"Primrose Retirement Community of Appleton was real nice. They had two-bedrooms and everything was new and in good shape. The layout was OK too. They had some washers and dryers. The only thing that I thought that they were missing was the coat closet and a pantry room. We only talked to the chef and never got to taste the food."

I keep myself busy by doing crafts. They play bingo. We make our own food. This is a security-locked building, so we don't have to worry about people coming in and disturbing us, and that's good. I've had a lot of help from these people. They could use better cleanliness. Everything in this apartment is included, like heat, water, utilities, and cable. They go according to your income. I'm very happy."

"Park Vista Retirement Living is very beautiful. I like the setting. It’s set right on a golf course. It’s very close to town, but it’s off the road. It’s all covered with trees. I thought it was not at all institutionalized. My in-laws have a 1-bedroom, but the facility has 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and studio apartments. It has a full kitchen. The rooms are beautiful, well kept, all freshly painted when you move in, and new carpeting. The staff is very friendly, very accommodating, and really easy to talk to. All meals are included for independent and assisted living. The food is wonderful. $5 to $6 for me to eat there, and then if somebody wants to stay overnight, they have a room there that they can pay $40 a night. There’s a bus, and they go shopping 3x a week. They’ll take you to any of your appointments; that’s all included. They’ll take you if you wanted to go somewhere and if it wasn’t scheduled -- or if the bus wasn’t running that day -- you call the taxi, and that would be free. The only thing you have to pay for is your phone service. They’re pretty happy since they moved from Arizona. My mother-in-law looked 100% better in 4 weeks just because she’s eating. "
