My father-in-law was at Northbrook Health and Rehabilitation. It was convenient to get to because it was close to us, but the nursing care was not up to what we expected. The left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. We got different opinions, and any time we tried to ask questions, we were given the "Oh, well, I don't know". That was the other nurse's answer. I didn't eat the food, so I don't know how good it was, but I do know that my father-in-law would not eat it. We had to bring things in from outside to feed him. But in all fairness, whenever I was there and looked at the food, it looked pretty good, so I think it was more him just not wanting to eat it. The facility appears to be clean and well-maintained, for the most part.

My father was a resident of Northbrook Center for Rehabilitation And Healing. Everybody in rehab was very good. They didn't let my dad say no, not today, I don't feel like it. They would talk and encourage him, what we're doing will help you. They were very very gentle with him, but they persuaded him it was what he needed. They didn't let him quit. He was in a room with another person. He had a very small space. We couldn't even get chairs there. We would have to sit on the bed if we went to see him. But the other side of the room was big. So, I think that guy lived there permanently. So, those there for rehab got the smaller side of the room versus those who lived there. I think they were short-staffed because the cleanliness of the place was not that great. And the food wasn't that great. They did have activities. They had this guy come in once a week to do haircuts. So, my dad did get his haircut there in the activities room. They had a lot going on in the activities room. It's just my dad wasn't interested.
