"I went to look at St. Paul's Senior Community. I like the rooms a lot better because the bedrooms are separated. So even though there are two in a room, it's like you're in your own bedroom. The dining area looks like a really nice place. All of the people there were very nice to work with. The staff was very cooperative, informative, and easy to work with. The facility was very clean and pleasant."

"We had been to Meramec Bluffs. Besides that, we have friends that live there. We were on a waiting list with them for 5 years. It’s not the best location, but it was the first place we really became interested in because the Lutheran Senior Services in our area has the finest reputation as far as skilled care, so that really jumps it up to another notch. They’re ranked nationally in the top 10 for skilled care. It’s a large community. Their independent living community is enormous. They provide a lot of amenities -- i.e., a lot more indepth transportation, banks, beauty salons, and community grocery store. It just goes on and on; that’s why we were interested in it. All of their entire community is altogether. You can access each area of their community -- like going to the skilled care from the assisted living, you can walk inside to do that, and that has been a plus. The accommodations are very nice. They have also some villas that run around outside the big buildings. But the issue is, we’re in St. Louis, and in the winter, you don’t want to walk across from your villa to the main building to have your meal. "

"I toured the Garden Villas. It was clean and the people were nice. It was smaller. They have typical games, exercises, and cards. They took them to the doctor and the grocery store."

"The Gatesworth is run like a combination condo/five star hotel. There are clubs and services, and at least two restaurants. I stayed in a guest suite while visiting my grandmother. The suite had a living room, with a desk, fold-out bed and flat screen TV. The bedroom had a view on the large courtyard with a man made lake and fountain. The bathroom was fitted out with granite countertops, and tile floors.Breakfast are served every day on white tablecloths, with wait staff bring freshly brewed coffee and cooked breakfasts to order. The wait staff know all the residents, and many of the visitors by sight, and usually will bring them "their usual" without being told.Condos are one or two bedrooms, the latter to accommodate visitors. The have modern, well equipped kitchens, and residents can bring their own furniture. Maid service is available. Nursing services are available.There are workout facilities, a movie theater, barbershop, and a beauty salon on site; and many classes and clubs are given on site. The grounds are beautiful, and well maintained, with a lake, fountains, and walking paths. "
