I visited Serenity Villas. I toured the potential apartment, and I went through the application process. I paid the deposit and application fee, and everything halted because I was over the income requirement. The staff recommended that I see if there was somebody I knew who could be a co-applicant. The place is small, and the restroom is in the bedroom. It was my first 55-plus community that I applied to, and it was a great process. I would give it a 9 out of 10. I liked it. It wasn't my preferred layout, and I felt that it could be upgraded, but it was nice. The staff and the management were excellent. I love the fact that when you come in, it's secure. There was parking inside the building when you first come in. That's important for seniors and visitors also. I liked the staff. I went about three to four times, and they were always nice, receptive, and helpful. The location was awesome. It was a beautiful area. It was a desirable place to live. The staff was very attentive and very prompt. If I emailed or they had anything for me, they followed through. It wasn't like I had to go through a phone game. They had a website where I could easily apply, as well as bring in a paper application. The office manager made exceptions for me on Saturday because I didn't live in the city and weekends were when I was off. She would meet with me before she went to her Saturday errands. I thought that was awesome. The apartment that I saw was in tiptop condition, but it was also a unit that was supposedly ready for someone else to move into. I did not see the actual apartment, but the one that I did see was really well maintained. I was excited about it for a moment, but it wasn't mine.

I went to Serenity Villas. It was independent living. I like that they had the laundry inside the apartment; a washer and dryer was available. And it was actually a one-bedroom, so that is nice instead of a studio. It was older and not kept. The meeting was with the maintenance person because the manager wasn't there at the moment. He was very friendly and very accommodating in giving us the tour, but I don't think. He was doing his job. When we saw him, he had his feet on the desk, and he had to get up and show us the apartment. But every floor we got out, there were leaves and stuff like that outside the elevator. He said that they kept everything clean, but it was not kept. Once in a while, they'll do a barbecue for the residents. There's no cafeteria or food available for them to go get food every day. They need attention to maintenance and cleaning.

I went to Serenity Villas. The place is very quiet. It has an option of whether you want a washer/dryer inside your apartment, which they offer for $40 rent a month, which I thought was not bad at all. The residents and the staff seemed very nice. The person who assisted me was a very nice young lady. She told me everything about the place and how much it costs to get in, and the fact that if my credit was good, I would only have to pay $500 to move in, but my credit wasn't good, so it would be double the rent. I just couldn't afford that right now. She explained it to me very well; very intelligent girl. When I first walked in, they had an area for seniors to commune right there. It's like a cafeteria where you could get coffee. They have a jacuzzi, which I like. You can walk around, and they have sidewalks going all the way around. It was close to a restaurant and stores. It's pretty good overall.
