"I liked my tour at Grossmont Gardens. I like the appearance of the place. When I got inside, the directions or information that leads you to the administration building was not great, so I hope they'll improve on that. The administration is in the back, and you have parking spaces up front, and most people will be at their parking. When I got back there, I finally met with the lady, and it was a nice meeting. I didn't know that you had to bring in your own furniture, but the 1-bedroom was nice. The staff that gave the tour was very good. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and very pleasant to talk to. She gave me a lot of information and good points about the place. I saw their swimming pool, and it's a big place so there are a lot of rooms. It looks like a huge apartment building, but the individual rooms are a good size. They don't provide a television but that's ok."

"Lantern Crest Dementia Unit is where mom is now. They watch them all day long. She is in the dementia Alzheimer’s floor where she is locked down and she can’t go outside the building, but they have a courtyard. She is on a walker, and she can go anywhere. If she wants to do something, they will take her, and they will help her in the courtyard. The food is good. They have a particular diet because a lot of them don’t eat regularly, and part of the rent is three meals a day, so they bring them there and have them eat something. It’s not like independent because their portions are smaller. My experience is pretty good. They are with them every day, the people interface well because I have noticed all different levels there, and I would say 10 people that I saw there as far as one being with the best staff isn’t that much. Some of them don’t want to eat; they are just walking around, and they are getting them to sit down. They are really watching them pretty well. "

"I visited Right Choice Senior Living, and then I also spoke to the owner on the phone. The owner, for some reason, didn't know that I was going to be there, so he wasn't there. One of the caregivers assisted me. The tour was good. I liked it. Edgar was the caregiver, and he seemed to be very attentive to each resident. Each resident wasn't tied to a strict schedule. The residents could go outdoors if they wanted, but no gym or library that I was shown."

"My mom's overall experience has been good. In 10 years, it was sold 4 times. The experience has been good and I have no complaints at all about the facility. She has a studio and it's very nice. She's on the third floor, which she chose because she likes being on that floor. All the activities are on the second floor and the dining is on the first floor. She has a very nice room with a view of the common area and the garden outside. She also has a little porch and a little patio. The upkeep is good in general. She needed to have her air conditioner replaced and it took quite a while to get that done but as far as general maintenance, it's been fine. I have no complaints about it. The staff has been good. There's been a few people she hasn't cared for, but over the years, I have not had any complaints about their staff. The food and the dining areas have always been good too. She's 102 now but when she went in, she was 92 and was really active. There is a lot to do every day from Bridge to Bingo to Trivial Pursuit. They have an area with a gym too. She used to sing in a singing group when she first went in, but I don't think that's still going on. There are plenty of things and activities there. They have movie nights, an early evening movie thing. There's a long list of things to do every day. There are at least 4 or 5 things to do. It is a beautiful facility. I would recommend it to anybody. Since Bonita bought it, she's had like a $300 almost $400 increase and nobody seems to be able to explain why. I've been dealing with it since December and they keep telling me they're going to figure out what is going on with her rent. I keep paying the rent. We've been paying $3700, which for a level 1 assisted living, I think, is a great value for what she's getting. Then it went up to almost over $4000 and I'm struggling to try to understand that. I've not been able to get anything done but I think they are actively trying to keep it around that. I'm just afraid if it goes too much over $4000, we would need another place to put her. When the place sells, it's always difficult but I know other places have the same issues and that's what my problem is with them right now."

"We had my mother here for several months before she died. She received really good care there. They always had a lot of people interacting and cooking on the stove, so it had a very homey atmosphere. They were always busy doing something, and the food they had for Thanksgiving was really good."

"I did stay in a place called Fredericka Manor. I was at rehab there. It's a very large complex. The rooms are usually two to a room. The staff was very outstanding. Sometimes, the food was real bad, especially for breakfast. They have a full range of activities: movies, dances, parties, bingo, church. It's right in the middle of Chula Vista. They have a little hospital. There are shopping centers. Anything you want is there. "

"I looked at Pacific Pointe. They're just very, very nice and it was clean, very clean, but for me, it's too far. I want to be close to my grandchildren and the other place is a block from them. One of the things I liked about it, it's small. It's very comfortable. It's a residential area and it's close to many things. What made it look comfortable from the beginning when we made the tour was when you went through the front door it had a nice patio. It's a three-story building, and each story has a nice outside patio. The lady that showed us around was off duty, they told us we didn't need an appointment, we could just come by any time. And she was there, they were having a problem with the elevator. She lives onsite, she went out of the way to show us, and she was just great."

"I toured Sun and Sea Manor. They were super nice. The place looked good and nice. The people were nice. The room was nice. The staff member who toured me around was great. They're very helpful, friendly, and down to earth. The tour was very quick because we realized it was much more care and more expensive than we needed."

"St. Paul's Manor was very nice. It was well organized and clean. They had social rooms and areas where they do their projects and activities. The food was good, and the price included 1 meal a day. There was no parking and no swimming pool, but they had a gym. The staff that I met was friendly. I was able to talk to a couple of residents, and they seemed satisfied with the place. "Gold Canyon Care Home is a board and care. They have like six patients. The man was nice enough, but the facility was not acceptable to me. I just wasn't impressed with it. They had bright-colored rooms."

"The Views in Poway is very nice, very modern, and very spacious. There are lots of bright, open areas with good views and things for people to see across the landscape. It's also right across from Old Poway Park with some old-type stores. I couldn't evaluate the staff, I was just touring with the administrator, but it seemed like they were helping the clients very well."
