"My mother-in-law is staying at The Gates House. It's a clean facility, and everybody has been nice so far. But I feel like we're probably not getting answers as far as trying to find out if they're cleaning her sheets and doing her laundry. And I'm not getting clear answers as to if she's getting the actual care that we're paying for. It goes by a scale, like it starts at $4000 a month and then it can go to $4600 to $4800 depending on the level of care. They're charging us the $4800 because they're saying she needs extra care, but I don't know if she's getting the extra care that we're paying for. The rooms are good size. They have a nice-sized bathroom attached to all the rooms. We have a private room for my mother-in-law, but I haven't seen a room where there's more than one person in it. As for the staff, everybody that we've come across has been pretty nice. I haven't had any issues with them. But I wish I was getting more straightforward answers from them. Most of the food is pretty good. It smells good, too. The couple of times that we have been there, my mother-in-law hasn't complained about it. Regarding value for money, I understand that they're caring for somebody and providing a roof over their head and all that, but it's just an exorbitant amount of money. We're paying extra for extra care, but I'm not getting verification that the things we're paying for are being carried out. Nevertheless, the best part about it is that it's eight minutes away from our house. And we live in a very rural area, so the location is the main thing."

"I toured the Village at Woods Edge. It was a nice, beautiful place. It's in a great location. It was just the community itself, and I'm only 63, and most of these people were upper-middle-class to well-to-do elderly people. I just didn't see myself blended into the community that well. It was quite far out from where I wanted to be. Franklin is almost an hour from my 93-year-old mother, whom I like to be close to. Everything else was spot-on. They had apartments, or they had cottages, one to two. You had your choice. They offer a lot of amenities, food programs, and entertainment. The person who gave the tour was a very nice lady. She's pleasant and very informative. I had no complaints. It's very green. The shrubs in the outdoor facility and the exterior of it are maintained very clean. Everybody who worked there, like the management and all, you could tell who was management and who lived there because the uniforms and what they wore were different than the community. They were open to questions. I suggest this to anybody who is looking for an older group."

"I enjoyed my stay at the independent living level of Lake Prince Woods, and the food was excellent. The only thing I didn't like about it was the way they treated my wife when she was at the extended care after she fell and broke her leg. It cost me $5000 a month for the type of care she was getting. They had all kinds of things like a movie theater, library and weight room with equipment and treadmills. They also had a nurse on duty at all times. They didn't have a swimming pool, but they had a nice dining room. Some of the staff members were really good, but I didn't like those in extended care because they had one staff member to five or six residents ,and they kept them doped up."
