"My dad is 77 years old and still lives independantly but frequently has a need to be taken to certain dr appointments, grocery stores or if not feeling well, a need for someone to do quick cleaning, meal preparation in his apartment or assistance with organizing his various medications. Arcadia, Kim especially, has and continues to perform all those tasks upon request. When my dad calls Kim, her response is always immediate. In a sense, it is almost as if my dad is her dad too, which says a lot about her caring and compassionate approach with him. My dad doesn't trust many people but he absolutely trusts her and I do as well. I'm over 2 hours away and so can't respond quickly with an immediate need so she has been my life line on many occassions. Most recently she set my dad up on meals and wheel to ensure he would have food through the winter months. I didn't ask her to do that; she made the recommendation then set it up. I can go on and on about the peace of mind Kim and her team provide. Aside from great care for my dad, the office is prompt with any requests, everyone is pleasant to talk to and billing is always accurate and timely. My dad is able to live independently because of Arcadia's great service and care. Thank you! "

"I have a number of clients using Home Instead Senior Care, and both they and I have been pleased with them. Among the pros: -Communication is outstanding. There's an easy flow of information back and forth. They listen well when I describe a client and make a real attempt to make a good match of caregiver to client. In one instance, I had a difficult client who was used to things being done exactly as he wanted, and the owner accompanied me to a meeting with him, so she'd understand exactly what he was looking for in a caregiver for his wife. They also do what they say "“ and they do it in a timely manner. -They offer escorts to doctor appointments and the escorts are willing and able to take careful notes, so I don't always have to be there. -They also offer companion care and PCAs who also do housekeeping (clients are really looking for one person to fill both roles). -They're the only home care agency I know of that offers internal Alzheimer's training, and the program is mandatory for all caregivers. They're also planning to enhance the training course in September 2011. -Their replacement availability is usually good. I really haven't seen any cons. They don't yet have a live-in caregiver program off the ground, but they're working on it. "

"We needed a companion for my mother-in-law, helping her into or out of bed. helping her get ready for bed and into her bed for the night, wheelchair to chair, keeping her O2 on and making sure she stayed safe. My mother-in-law was at an assisted living facility and was needing extra care. It all happened vary fast. We called Right at Home on a Friday morning needing a companion for three 13 hours days, starting the next day. They were able to get coverage. Kristen and Kelsey were great, they helped us very much. All the companions were very professional and really cared about what they were doing. Kept us updated in the evening before they left. I would not hesitate to go with Right at Home again if I ever need someone. Or to recommend them."

"We chose Aging Excellence Kennebunk because they were very close to my mother's home and we had a good experience in the past. They provide my mom with assistance in everything we need. We've been using them for a couple of years now. We've been using the same caregiver for a long time, then my mom went to rehab, and now she's starting with a new caregiver, but it has been great."

"A company here in Portsmouth is taking care of my husband. It's called the Extended Family. They have women come out to help me during the day. It seems to be working out fine so far. It was recommended to me by a nursing emergency care place when my husband got out of the hospital. They have caretakers that come part of the day, the whole day, and every day in the week. They have several choices of caregivers. I signed up with them to take care of my husband. So far, it has been good. We had a little bump here and there, but it's turning out OK. They provide physical therapy, occupational therapy, and day-to-day maintenance. He is in a hospital bed in the living room and they're making sure he is clean and taken care of. They do just about everything. It helps me because then I can get out shopping and I can do the things I need to do. They started out all day and all night, but I think we're going to lower down to part of the day and maybe not even at night anymore. It depends on the care he needs, and as he gets better, they adjust to my schedule and what he needs. They're very caring and very conscientious. They keep a log of everything they've done. They're working out fine. I appreciate their help. They're very congenial. They care about me, too. They help me out so I can get out and go to the store. They do housekeeping if I want them to. They offer to do dishes and vacuum also. It's pretty good all the way around. The scheduling is done every week. They send me a schedule of who is going to be here and what time. I would recommend them."

"We were able to hook up with Cornerstone VNA to get a day person that could come and help with my parent's breakfast and lunch. They help in getting my parents up, making coffee, and giving them breakfast and lunch. My mother has dementia, so they're able to play a puzzle or do something. They watch a show with my mom so my dad can rest. My dad is 92, and my mother is 90, so they really need quiet most of the day, and we're able to get that with Cornerstone. They are providing some paid people that we're paying per hour, and it's working out well. The girl we have coming is very bubbly and very giving. She said she thinks that this is her calling to help older people. She wasn't able to come Wednesdays and Fridays, but Cornerstone has been really good about changing the schedule around, and now, we're going to have her from Monday through Friday. We also have Easterseals, and they're providing a girl that helps with housekeeping. So now, we're pretty much covered through the day. That's what we were looking for without having to take the step of going into the nursing home. We're very pleased."

They are very professional and have a wide background. Their care and services are fine.
