Consumer Ratings for Senior Living Determine “Caring Stars of 2019”

San Mateo, CA; Nov. 14, 2018 — The nation’s largest website for senior living reviews, Caring.com today announced its annual list of the best senior living communities — the Caring Stars of 2019 — determined using consumer ratings and reviews.

This industry-leading recognition was awarded to 144 top-rated senior living communities in 36 states for 2019, with California, Texas, and Florida having the most winners. Locally, the top 3 areas with the most-winners include: senior living communities in Sacramento County (CA), senior living communities in Bexar County (TX), and senior living communities in Riverside County (CA).

Originally launched in January 2012 as the first of its kind, the Caring Stars annual list has become the go-to guide of the best senior living communities nationwide – particularly helpful after families gather for the holidays and discover increased or urgent senior care needs for their elderly parents or grandparents. To be considered for the award, Caring Stars communities met a set of criteria based on ratings and reviews from senior living residents and their family members -- with those reviews analyzed by Caring.com staff (rather than computer algorithms) to determine the senior living communities with the best consumer ratings.

The Caring Stars award can be earned by any licensed senior living community with a profile in Caring.com’s nationwide directory. Additionally, the consumer reviews on Caring.com are fully visible to anyone on the web.

To be recognized as a Caring Star of 2019, the senior living communities had to meet all of the following criteria:

• Have an overall average rating of 4.5 stars or higher (on a scale of 1 to 5) by October 15, 2018;
• Have 10 or more consumer reviews on their Caring.com listing by October 15, 2018;
• Have 3 or more reviews on their listing dated between October 15, 2017 - October 15, 2018, including at least one that was posted during 2018 and at least one that had a 5-star rating; and
• Respond to any/all negative (1-star or 2-star) reviews on their listing.
