The Caring Stars 2024 list has 375 senior living communities in 36 states, with California, Michigan, and Florida having the most communities on the list (47, 43, and 38, respectively).

In determining the annual Caring Stars list, Caring.com conducts an extensive audit of every consumer review on each finalist’s reviews page. For the Caring Stars 2024 list, more than 10,400 reviews were re-evaluated to uphold publication validity and avoid giving the award based on any reviews with conflicts of interest or other guidelines concerns.

In determining its annual Caring Stars list, Caring.com uses reviews attributes of greatest importance to those searching for and considering senior living communities. For Caring Stars 2024, the communities and care homes have an overall average rating of 4.5 stars or higher, and published business responses for any 1-star or 2-star negative reviews on their Caring.com reviews profiles. They also have to meet specific criteria for review volume and recency, and have at least one 5-star review published on Caring.com in 2023, on or before October 15, 2023 (the 2024 award qualification deadline). Caring also screened finalist communities using licensing information on the state agency websites (where applicable and data publicly available).
