"My mother was in a wonderful community called Sage Living. I was a little worried when she was in there because she was a widow, but I would see people walking around with their yoga mats and heading over to yoga class, and the food was wonderful, so it completely erased my fears about those things. The staff was just so friendly and nice. She had a stroke and had to go into memory care, and I cannot say enough nice things about the staff. My husband and I, when we work in Wyoming in the summer, still take gifts to the staff there because they were so wonderful. It's also a small town, and you run into each other. Even my sisters cannot say enough good things about the place. My husband and sisters would all agree with me. We all stop by and say hi to them because they were so patient and kind to my mother. The local artists donated art to decorate the facility. The local high school comes and plants gardens where the residents can walk and sit on benches and get some sunshine. They have wonderful options when it comes to activities. The thing that impacted my mother so much was that after the stroke, she wasn't able to string together a sentence or a question. She would try, but she had lost her ability to speak much. But there was music therapy there twice a week, where a local guitarist would come in. She would pick songs that were of the generation of the people that lived there, and my mom could sing every word, and she would just come alive and smile. We always made it for that and sat with her. She would play the drum on my husband's head just to have fun. I can't go in comparison to other places, but I would say she had the best care there ever."
