"Oakmont of Novato was one of the newest so everything is nice, clean, and well laid out. They're somewhat in the process of expanding some of the areas, but they've got them set up there and all the facilities in the assisted living area are all pretty new. The living spaces were compact but pretty efficient. The people that I talked to seemed very nice and cordial. I didn't have any problem with any of the staff. They seemed good."

"Deer Park Retirement Community was the bomb. We toured it and it was so pretty. It was like living on top of a mountain. It was gorgeous. There were people hopping and bopping around. It just had more of an intellectual/cultural feel. It seemed like the people there were a little more cognizant and a little bit more active. Everybody I saw was walking around or they had their little sweatpants on, and they were going to yoga, or they were going to do something. It was a little bit more of a bustling, hustling place. They had a pool table room, shuffleboard, and a movie theater room. They had all these little rooms. They have this beautiful library, too. And the view was over the top. It was absolutely breathtaking and gorgeous. The landscaping was over the top. It had little meditation fountains. If I am honest to goodness sincere, if my father had more money and we made more money, I would have put him there in a heartbeat, simply for the fact that it was closer to the house. I live in Santa Rosa, so Novato is 19 minutes. If there was an emergency, or just going to visit with my father, Novato was closer. That made another difference. My father is very bright. He has some physical disabilities, but he's cognitively super smart. Everybody there just seemed like they were moving and grooving, and I think some people are just a little bit more mentally on the ball. But my father's also very good just going in his room after dinner, reading a book, and watching sports, and that's what he likes to do. He's got a walker, so he can't really play pool or do shuffleboard. So, all of the amenities were really pretty, but it came down to what could my father utilize for that extra money, and those were things that didn't really matter. He can't stand on a walker and shoot pool."

"I was at Atria Tamalpais Creek for a month for respite to rehab my broken clavicle. It was a great place. They had lots of activities. Everybody ate meals together and everybody knew everybody. There was good rapport between the residents, and there was also a good relationship with the staff who was outstanding, very pleasant, and very nice. They were running that place right. Everybody from the people who served the food up to people who had the prestigious jobs and even the head custodian were very pleasant. You can't walk around that place without every staff member saying hi to you."

"I like where it's located. So I did looked at different places, but I'm not at the point where it would have to be a decision that is needed to be made right away. The only place that really matched for what I wanted was this facility. The staff is fine. I talked to them on the phone and they answered some of the questions I had. They also sent me the information I needed. I talked to a couple of people who know the place; it has a positive reputation. So based on that, I thought of all the places this is the one that I could see myself at. I think they're excellent, they have a lot of compassion, and there are more positive things than negative things compared to other continuing care retirement community. A lot of what I looked at was the location, reputation, and if I could see myself there. That's why I went to visit the place. "

"It is one of my top 3. It was clean, the vibe was very friendly, and it had good activities. The staff was very friendly, very knowledgeable, and have called me a couple of times since to follow up. It was on a busy street, and I didn't like that."

"Sagebrook Senior Living is beautiful. I love it. It's just a bit too steep. They want $6,800 without the care, and that's kind of a bit too much for our income. The community is great. The view was fantastic. The accommodations were great. The staff was very nice and very helpful. The dining area was lovely. It had a piano and everything. It was really nice. I have nothing bad to say about it. We had lunch, and it was good. It looked like their families were there, so they were chatting and associating with their families, and then they went outside. It is old, and they're still doing construction."

"I visited the memory care at Westmont of Pinole about 3 years ago but we have some relatives that recently moved in too. The employees were very, very friendly and the place had a warm feeling to it. The only thing that I don't like about it is that the rooms were small. The property is very nice. They had a birdcage and you can sit there and watch the birds lay eggs, then eventually the eggs hatch, and the birds come out. It's very nice. I know my cousin there is very picky but she eats the food. They have very nice people, are very warm, and the employees are very good. "

"We found it and things are going well so far. I picked it because they seemed to have nice rooms, lots of activities, and good care. The food looks good too. "

"We went to The Carlisle and got on their waiting list. They were very nice and very accommodating. When we got there, they were very welcoming, and it was beautiful. It seemed like they had a lot of activities, and it seemed to be staffed 24 hours with a nurse on call. They have parking, and if you were downsizing and wanted a relative or somebody to come and visit, they have facilities there for them to reserve a bed. I think they try to make it much like whatever place you've left, so it is possible that you would be happy there. "

"The memory care at Coterie is incredible. Christina’s team is well trained and all so loving and caring to their residents. My mom has lived under their care for the past year, and it has been so helpful to have support during this challenging time of her memory decline. Not only are the caregivers, med techs, and nurses amazing, but also the organization of activities and amenities are well planned. My mom always has lots of opportunities to enjoy music, create flower arrangements, or even practice tai chi. She has been really happy living at Coterie. We are so thankful we found a safe and loving home for my mom."

"It was wonderful. I thought it was really lovely. I would love for my mother to stay there. The person who took me on a tour was lovely and very accommodating. I was very impressed with the look of the place. I liked how beautiful it was. There were people in the lobby with someone, I thought from the rescue foundation, because there was a dog, and they were enjoying that. It just had a really good feel about it. There was a very good sized one-bedroom apartment, and it was very lovely. It was something I wouldn't expect an assisted living place to be that nice. It looked like they had a lot of good stuff going on. "

"I looked at the memory care part of The Village at Hayes Valley. The place seems great, the residents seem happy and they interacted with the staff. The place was clean and the rooms were nice, and it's a very nice place. The staff seems very friendly. I was speaking to the director, the chef, and their admissions lady, and they're all very nice. I also saw the daily menu. The rooms were a decent size, with enough space for a bed, a dresser, and situated like a bedroom in a private residence."
