"Bickford of Fort Dodge showed us the different sized rooms and some of the activities they do. They gave us an overview of the cost of each room in the assisted living and what comes with it. It was a really nice tour. The lady we talked to, Jordan, was really nice. We loved her. She was really nice and she explained everything really thoroughly. I was really impressed with her, too. When we were there, they had a bingo game going on. They had a calendar with different activities they do every day. They give them three meals a day. Jordan asked about what kind of meals my mom likes and things like that. They would make certain things to accommodate them. It's a pretty nice place."

"Southfield Wellness Community has been awesome, friendly, and very helpful. My mom was showing me the mini Christmas trees they made. They had a large Christmas tree in the dining area, which was more like a restaurant (at least appearance-wise). I'm very happy with the place and I don't worry about Mom. The living area has a large-screen TV, a fireplace, and it's just like being at home."

"The owners of this facility genuinely care about the residents. This is a family-run business, with their grown children working there as well. They take time to visit with the residents, and do a wonderful job maintaining the apartments; they are quick to respond if any need arises regarding maintenance within the apartment, and also if there is any physical need. The food served to the residents is delicious, and they provide a nice variety of things. There is a beauty shop on site, beautiful dining area, and several areas to sit and visit with family or other residents. Bible studies are offered, as well as a short sermon and music (church) each Sunday (provided by local churches). There is an area where the residents congregate and play cards, checkers, etc. The evening meal is provided, and delivered to your apartment if you so choose. They will be responsible for medications and provide them as needed to the resident(s) if needed. The apartments have ample room, with a big entry closet, as well as a nice-sized walk-in clothes closet in the bedroom. The kitchen has plenty of cupboards, and all appliances needed. The entire facility is very clean and provides a relaxing,"homey" atmosphere. The monthly charge is the most reasonable we found anywhere around. We are very satisfied with the care our parents are receiving there, and have total peace of mind for their well-being. "

"It has been wonderful. Springvale is more than mom expected, and she's very happy there. They are very accommodating and friendly. The whole thing couldn't be better. Mom has gained 5 lbs since she's been there because she's eating nutritious food regularly. "

"I'm in Friendship Haven, in independent living called Kenyon Place. When available, they're going to move me to another room that wouldn't be so expensive. I had to buy in when I came here and if I run out of money they will start using that money instead of saving it for my estate. Then, if that runs out, they will work out something to get help so that I don't have to leave. They're extremely friendly. It's not just one, big, long building. They have about four or five streets that run off of our main building. The staff is really good. It's been real difficult with COVID because people left and went somewhere else, and it's hard to find people, but the staff I work with is very good. You couldn't do all the activities every day. If you wanted to, there would not be enough time. They have a pool, line dancing, balance class, brain class, and writing. They have a pool table. We get our noon meal, but we do our own morning and evening. The food is excellent."
