Senior Care Referral Service, Caring.com Names New CEO
Entrepreneurial Leader, Jim Rosenthal to Build on Success of Predecessor
San Mateo, CA; July 30, 2018 — Caring.com, a leading senior care referral service, today introduced Jim Rosenthal as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Rosenthal was most recently the Executive Chairman for Caring.
He is a partner in the private equity group that acquired Caring.com in May. Rosenthal has extensive experience managing businesses for growth in marketing and content driven businesses such as media, entertainment, consumer products, and education. Rosenthal has also managed, invested in, and been an active board member for lead generation/customer acquisition businesses in education, online reviews, and various consumer products verticals. Jim worked closely with Caring’s departing CEO, Karen Cassel, to ensure a seamless transition and the continuation of the business momentum, especially the continued support for the eldercare needs of families and seniors across America.
“Jim’s a strategic and creative entrepreneurial leader who will build upon the achievements of Caring’s strong team to accelerate the company’s growth,” says David Wong, one of Caring’s board members. “We appreciate the significant contributions that Karen has made over the course of her tenure, including her professionalism through the company’s leadership transition.”
In announcing the acquisition of Caring in May, Rosenthal excitedly stated, “With our long term investment horizon, Caring’s current capabilities and devotion to the space, as well as the attractive industry dynamics, we are confident we can continue to deliver world class support to seniors, their loved ones, and the senior care communities.” As CEO, Rosenthal will work with the team to grow Caring as it continues to deliver on its social mission and expands industry partnerships. Rosenthal first became interested in senior care when his family had to make difficult decisions regarding his dad’s care.
Caring.com was founded in 2007 by family caregivers who noticed a lack of information online to navigate the complexities of caregiving. They created Caring.com as a one-stop online resource to help others facing similar challenges. Cassel was instrumental in pivoting Caring.com from a content website to the 2nd largest national senior care referral agency.
“Caring.com has come a long way since its founding. Karen did a terrific job leading a talented team and taking the company to a new level. I am excited to work with the team on its next chapter,” Rosenthal said.
Rosenthal graduated from Harvard University and joined Booz Allen & Hamilton as a strategy consultant. More recently, he has held executive positions at New Line Cinema, Kaplan, Inc., and Performance Matters. Rosenthal has a strong track record of attracting, developing and motivating high performance teams.
