Caring.com Hires World-Class Marketing Executive to Drive Company Growth

Karen Cassel Appointed Executive Vice President and General Manager

San Mateo, CA; Feb. 16, 2012 — Caring.com, the leading online destination for family caregivers, is pleased to announce the arrival of Karen Cassel as executive vice president and general manager of performance marketing. In this new role, Cassel is responsible for scaling Caring.com's business to effectively expand its offering and better serve more of the 43.5 million Americans providing unpaid care to their aging and ailing loved ones age 50 or older.

"We're thrilled to welcome this world-class marketer to our executive team," says Andy Cohen, co-founder and CEO of Caring.com. "She has extensive experience leading the rapid growth of early-stage Web media businesses, a proven track record of success, and a passion for hiring and mentoring high-performing teams. We're excited to see her apply her sophisticated business acumen to further advance Caring.com in meeting the needs of family caregivers nationwide -- making caregiving for aging relatives easier and more satisfying."

A veteran of the online advertising industry, with expertise in lead generation, social networking, ad networks, and Web publishing, Cassel has helped companies reach prospective customers online since 2002. She's held senior leadership positions at online vertical marketing pioneer QuinStreet, social media giant Tagged, and, most recently, digital media company Ziff Davis B2B Focus. She has a MBA from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business and a B.S. in mathematics and quantitative economics from Tufts University.

Cassel began her career as an actuarial assistant at John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company, where she focused on developing and pricing features for the company's then-nascent long-term care insurance products. That experience led her to be a tireless advocate not only for the benefits of planning for retirement and beyond but for the products and services that truly assist in that process.

"Joining Caring.com after 20 years away from long-term care feels like coming full circle," she says. "Fortunately, my parents are still relatively healthy and have retired to a 55+ community in Florida, but there are many families across the country who haven't yet found the right eldercare resources, or who are in immediate need of caregiving information and support. I'm looking forward to expanding Caring.com's ability to be there when and as they need us."
