Caring.com Acquires Leading Online Eldercare Directory Gilbert Guide

The 2009 acquisition of Gilbert Guide by Caring.com intends to yield a comprehensive eldercare directory.

San Mateo, CA; Oct. 7, 2009 — Caring.com is pleased to announce the acquisition of Gilbert Guide, the home of the most comprehensive online senior housing guide, homecare directory, and key resource for caregivers, adult children and families with aging parents.

"We're excited to welcome Gilbert Guide to the Caring.com family and support its advancement as the most comprehensive eldercare directory on the web," said Andy Cohen, co-founder and CEO, Caring.com. "This acquisition will strengthen our ability to provide more than 34 million Americans caring for aging parents, with the most engaging, high-quality eldercare information and resources available online."

As a Caring.com featured site, Gilbert Guide has quickly become a favorite among members, with more than a million unique visitors since March, 2008. Through the acquisition, Caring.com will now give its members the ability to access Gilbert Guide's housing guide and extensive directory as part of its standard features.

"For the past five years, Gilbert Guide has helped families find practical solutions, expert information and a comprehensive housing guide and homecare directory to help them while assessing or making plans for their aging parents," said Jill Gilbert, CEO, Gilbert Guide. "Joining the Caring.com family gives us the ability to provide this same information to millions of Caring.com members, while also succeeding at building out the leading online resource for adults who care for their aging parents."

The undisclosed stock transaction was closed on September 23rd. Effective immediately, the Gilbert Guide team will become a part of Caring.com and focus on the further development and expansion of the guide. Gilbert Guide CEO Jill Gilbert and COO Jason Gilbert will join the Caring.com team as vice presidents, reporting to CEO Andy Cohen.

Caring.com provides original content, expert advice, a community of caregivers, and other resources and applications, geared towards some of the most difficult topics researched and managed by adult children caring for their aging parents, including healthcare, financial, legal, housing, and life issues. It has quickly become the leading destination for adult children, reaching more than five million visitors since its inception two years ago.
