"I'm in a group home called Comfort Living Senior Care. They have a facility for five people, and it's very clean and very nice. We have 24-hour care if we need it, so we have a call button that, if we need to call somebody at night, they will come and help us. Not every place has that. Sometimes, they have the call button, but they don't want to come after hours. I was in another care facility where we could call from seven in the morning to seven at night, and it was only for emergencies. This place said they will come whenever you need them, so I like that. People are nice, I'm comfortable here, and it's close to my home. That made a difference because I'm just here temporarily after being sick, so it helped that I didn't have to move things very far. I think they have three private rooms and one shared one. I physically couldn't do activities, but they have bingo once a week where a lady comes in and does it for us. They also have a nurse on call who manages your meds. She comes in and sets up the meds for the week. There are two people on staff all the time, too, so that's good. Everything is very clean and very nice. The living area is a bit smaller compared to the other home I was in. They have a dining room, a large TV, and a sofa, but it's a smaller area. It is okay, but it is not big, and that's the only negative. Another good thing is you can have visitors until six o'clock at night, which I like. I was at one group home where you had to make an appointment to have a visitor, but here, visitors can come until six at night as long as you're not disturbing anything. I have physical therapy, a home health nurse, and a doctor coming in, and there have been no problems. Sometimes, they can't be there at the exact time, and they might get caught in traffic or something like that, so I like that this place is flexible about people coming in."

"Brookdale Central Paradise Valley was a fantastic place. There were a lot of active seniors there. It was very clean. Everybody was very friendly. We really liked it. If we were going to choose one, I think that's the one that we were going to go. The staff was very nice and very helpful. They have games, live music, a gym, a pool, and a fish pond. They had the most aesthetic outdoors. The lady that gave the tour was very nice. Each apartment had its own balcony or patio."

"My mom was in two large facilities before Oakmont. Both were bad choices. Finally, at Oakmont she was given the care I wanted for her. She had a lot if attention and I was eased with her care. It was the closest to being in a home because of the small 10 resident ceiling and caring staff."

"We went down to Pacifica Senior Living Paradise Valley today. I liked it. The people were friendly. It was very nice, very open, and a very homey environment. They had a studio and a one-bedroom. They were very nice and I had no problems with them at all. They showed the activity room and there was some exercising, they had bingo night, Super Bowl party nights, and they had dancing. I saw a library. They encourage you to walk, which is good. The menu looks very nice and very healthy."

"The first place we visited was Grace Assisted Living. We didn't see anything we didn't like. It was a nice home. It was well-kept. There weren't any undue odors. They only take a small number of patients in that home. Everybody had a private room and a private bath. The lady that we talked to was very nice in answering all our questions and being very cordial and understanding of our situation. The facility was very nice, modern, up-to-date, and very clean. We were pleased that all the doors and windows were alarmed because I think when we place my sister, she is going to be upset, and I think she's going to be trying to go home back up to the mountains, so that'll be important for her safety. "

"I toured Thunderbird Senior Living. I did see their menu and everything seemed good. It's like an all-day kind of thing. It's open all day. The facility was clean and nice. I was impressed. It was very well-maintained. The rooms were nice. I'm interested in the studio, large, it was a pretty good size, and it'll work for me. The staff was very friendly and informative."

"My partner is in Vista Living Senior Care (Camelback). I like that it's a small community. They have very good help. There are aides all the time, and they're always attending to the residents. They have a nurse at night, and they provide all the residents' needs. It's been a very caring and helpful community. It's very clean, very bright, welcoming, and it feels like home. The food is good. I've eaten there several times. They cook all their meals right there in the kitchen. It's like a big family. Everyone gets served their meals at the same time, and they eat together at the dining table. They get a lot of one-on-one attention. They're doing a really good job, and I'm very happy with them."

"I moved to Glencroft Center for Modern Aging. The people are so patient and understanding. They were so patient with me and helped me out and explained everything. So it was a very good experience. I've just been in my room. I'm still putting things away and getting set up, but I haven't gone out and used any of the other facilities yet. I've seen all of them. They look excellent. They were holding on the day I moved in, a Cowboy barbecue event. Things are going on all the time."

"My mom is a resident of MorningStar Senior Living at Golden Ridge. The staff is very considerate and very helpful in everything. They give you a variety of food, but it doesn't taste like anything. It's bland. It's a good atmosphere, very nice, and kept clean. They had a lot of stuff. They do help her out on certain things. She did have a pendant that she pressed, and then somebody would come. The money was decent, and then they raised their rent for the first year, so that's why my mom had to go where she had to go."

"The only person that I spoke to at Arcadia Estate -- in addition to one of the tenants -- was Michelle. She was very accommodating and very nice. She knew what she was talking about when I explained that my father-in-law had dementia and he needed some kind of care or medication for that. And they have a 5-step memory care program, which mean they take care of the really bad ones that don’t even remember who they are -- which of course anybody that has dementia is going to get to that point -- and they are equipped to take care of that. They have a locked floor in their facility for the wanderers like my father-in-law or the people who want to get out in the street and they can’t because they don’t know where they are going and what they are doing so they are a risk to themselves and to other people. They have a whole floor of them, and they have a backyard for them to go out in so they can go outside, but they just can’t go out in the street. You can’t put a person who’s going to wander just anywhere, and they’re able to do that, so I very much like that. They have everything that anybody could use. I saw one of the rooms as well because there’s a tenant there that apparently likes when people come and visit her room, and she was very nice. The rooms were a little on the small side, but it’s only the one person, and they don’t even know where they are at half the time, so what’s the difference? It would have worked out perfectly because my father-in-law doesn’t cook, so they have a microwave, a refrigerator, and a sink. She also had a bed and a little balcony, and she was lying on the floor and watching TV, so it’s perfect for one person. They have their own private bathroom so they don’t have to share, and I liked that too. This place just happened to work out perfectly for me. "
