By 2025, this number is expected to be around 35 percent higher at 42,000. Of the 1,100,000 or so residents of Salt Lake County, just over ten percent of them are aged 65 and over. While this is a relatively low demographic in comparison to other parts of the country, there's still a definite need for appropriate facilities to care for seniors with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. There are 27 of these facilities located throughout Salt Lake County that are regulated by the Bureau of Health Facility Licensing and Certification.
