Assisted living facilities usually offer memory care as an additional service, typically charging 20%-30% more than for assisted living care. Due to a lack of authoritative resources, we’ve estimated the following memory care costs by increasing the assisted living costs reported by Genworth’s 2021 Cost of Care Survey by 25%.
The further west memory care providers are located in Massachusetts, the less they tend to charge. Across the Bay State, memory care costs range anywhere from $8,750 (Barnstable Town), or $226 per month more than in Middlesex County, to $2,605 (Pittsfield), which is $5,919 less than the Middlesex County average. Memory care in Springfield ($6,310) costs $2,214 less than in Middlesex County, while providers in Worcester ($7,106) cost just $1,416 less.
