Is Axona an effective drug for dementia?

Doddsdoddds asked...

I have been reading about Axona. Is it effective in treating mild dementia? Right now I am on Aricept, 10mg. I function well, but have problems with locations and memory.

Axona is medical food that was developed to promote brain function. However, there is very limited evidence indicating that it is effective and Axona is currently not recommended by the Alzheimer's Association. You may read more about it at http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/axona/an01992
