The PT & OT is the best. Food is always served cold. Understaffed, several caregivers are rude. Drs are never available. I was never physically examined by a Dr at this facility. Visitation is very unorganized & confusing. Medication not properly given.

The care given by The Grand at Queens is second to none. The staff is friendly, thorough and highly knowledgeable. I would recommend this facility without reservation.

I'm going to try my best to accurately describe my stay at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing center. Upon my arrival, which was a day later than planned, I was hit in the face with the fresh smell of flowers, potpourri, and cinnamon. I was extremely happy about that because most nursing home scents are unbareable. Rolling on the stretcher going towards my room the vibrant colors and sound of music welcomed me. I wasn't expecting three other roommates, but after getting to know them we became family. The first three days I thought I was going to starve because the food was not great at all. However, after running into the Executive Chef (Andrew), he did his best to make sure the food was great (there were a few minor hiccups, but the overall food tasted and looked about 70% better). Andrew actually changed my plate if I didn't like it and the kitchen accommodated me when I desired another serving! The dietician a nd nutritionist were very kind making sure I had the proper food on my plate. The recreational staff, especially Leonee & Vashti, was extremely kind; the activities were also engaging as well as fun. I had a special connection with a lot of the staff, so I didn't have any laundry issues. With that said some of the residents did complain about not getting there clothes back in a timely fashion. My room was clean and free of odors. Let's talk about the staff! I will give a special shout out to my favorite staff members who went above and beyond for me and the other residents regardless of their issue; most importantly they remained even-tempered despite the emotional roller coaster of the residents. All of the following staff members were kind, funny, caring and fast. Singh (the medicine man), Norma, Leonie, Rachel, Gibby, Nikella, Grace, Pryce, Prince, J. Kaur, P. Kaur, Tinzin, Lanka, David, Ashwar, Lourdes, Frank, Lady, Saphie, Clark, Thelma, Marina, Veronica, Ferdinand, Maria, Nicole, Andrew, Sophie (the dog), Dr. Singh, Dr. Win, Amy, and Charlene, I want to thank you for making my journey to recovery possible. You encouraged me when I was down and you pushed me when I wanted to just lay in bed all day. I would have to rate my overall experience a B-. By the way the physical and occupational therapy staff were excellent, I would rate them an A-.

Some of the aides could have been kinder, but overall ok. The therapy department I found to be outstanding, not only to me, but to everyone! They are there for you and willing to help in any way they can

We were looking for the best nursing homes in queens, in order to make an informed decision on long term care placement for our loved one. In the end, we do feel like we found the best nursing home in queens, at The Grand Rehabilitation and Healthcare. The staff on the first floor is exceptional and we couldn't ask for more dedication or better service.

The Grand is awesome for short -term care. For long - term care, floors 2 and 3, it is abysmal. They are understaffed and residents in the long-term care are undeserved. I would only recommend the first floor, short-term and say no way to long-term.

Loved the staff, very happy, helpful and professional. Everyone was great from the custodial staff up to the manager staff. The only problem I had was I don't think the staff should park in the parking lot. It is small as it is. Most people here have elderly spouses visiting and for them to have to park on Francis Lewis Blvd and walk in order to visit their loves ones is horrible.

My husband suffered a debilitating stroke several months ago and wound up in NYU hospital in New York. Because he is relatively young (67), i was very fearful about the prospect of a quick recovery for him post discharge from the hospital. We live in Queens and I did extensive research on top stroke rehabilitation centers in Queens, New York and was amazed to find that though there are programs in place to begin stroke rehab from the hospital, there are very few options for post-acute stroke rehab in the area of new york, unless you are willing to be an outpatient. I was ambivalent about this because I didn't think I'd be able to equip the apartment (and myself) to be able to handle his needs so soon after his hospitalization. Then I found information on The Walter Strauss Stroke Center located at the Grand Rehab at Queens. I met with their team prior to my husbands discharge and was impressed with what I heard and hoped that as an in-patient with 24 skilled nursing care, on top of the stroke rehab, that he'd be able to regain core functioning and abilities. Dr. Weissman, who is their clinical director, took an interest in his case from the beginning and this was very reassuring for me and our only daughter. My husband made steady progress at the walter strauss stroke center and we were very pleased with the therapy and the care. There were minor issues here and there which were quickly ameliorated through open communication and dialogue with his doctors and nurses. The staff was great! All in all, I highly recommend this stroke center in queens ny, for recovering patients post hospitalization and prior to home.

The Grand Rehab is excellent, there’s no smell, and there’s nothing to complain about. It’s more like a country club, it’s very clean, and the patients are very clean with no smell or anything. My sister is alright with the food, the staffing is excellent, and the therapy is working for her. She’s very pleased with them. The rooms are spacious, and I think they have a lot of fun and games.

I actually really love this center. Had my grandma in here for a couple of months. They were super attentive to her and my family's needs. The staff was polite and made her stay pleasant and bearable for us. I recommend this place to anyone who has a loved one and wants them to be treated like family!
