I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
My mom was there for 4 weeks . She was in very bad shape when she got there. Even though my mother doesn't understand or speak any English, nurses and all the stuff were more than nice and understanding towards her. Care they provided for her was outstanding. I felt 100% safe that much mom was in safest possible institution. I would highly recommended to my family and friends.

I am/was a resident of this facility
This facility is a joke. The nurses are overworked. The nurses all have low moral. Pre scribed medications are often late or forgotten. Forbidden food Iitems are routinely fed to individuals.meds are not ordered in atimely manner cauding out of stocks. Laundry routinely loses clothes. Call lights can take upwards of an hour to answer. They have nice brochures and are well rehearsed upon entry. All down hill

Our dad has Alzheimer's and was in here for a few months. On visits we noticed he would be unbathed and in the same outfit for days. We complained to staff that he had infected bedsores repeatedly and without any action by them. We ended up having to care for his sores ourselves as well as bathe him and groom him ourselves. Despite their courtyard, he was never taken outside. He was not taken to any activities. He was made to sit in a wheelchair all day and at times sleep in it instead of his bed through the night (told to us by staff, not our dad) . When he became upset about having to sit all day (my dad's always been a busy bee) they began sedating him without our agreement. He went in walking, laughing and able to still remember some family names. He came out depressed, unable to stand well and severely declined in cognitive ability. This is not a caring Alzheimer's facility. The staff was very rude to us and him on various occasions and any concerns over his welfare and quality of life were ignored. Please do not subject your loved one to this.

We had a loved one at this facility for approx. 2 weeks on the dementia care unit and under circumstances would we recommend this facility to anyone looking for this type of care. The patient to staff ratio is terrible, there were far too few staff members and the staff that were there were stressed and overworked, sometimes to the point of rudeness to us and our loved one. The communication we received, about the medication our loved one was (or wasn't) receiving was poor at best. We could never get a straight answer out of anyone. When our family noted his steep decline, we requested that he be transferred to the hospital. We were not notified when they DID transfer him (the hospital had no idea who he was, why he was there, there was no one to sign for him etc. for several hours..luckily a family member had gone to visit him that day and at that point we were told that he had been sent to the hospital, so we went immediately!!!!) A few things we were things we were uncomfortable with at Westbay were: going to visit him one afternoon only to find him in a dry diaper in urine soaked jogging pants, with no idea how long he had been sitting here that way. His wheelchair was often dirty with food remnants and worse. There was a non working, loose electrical outlet at the head of his bed, which was repaired at our family's request however it remained loose and unusable in the wall. His personal hygiene was left unattended often. Please do not put yourself or a loved one through this. He was only there for 2 weeks declined in a way that he never regained.
