Andrew Putnam, M.D. is a Palliative Care physician at Smilow Cancer Center at Yale New Haven Hospital and Yale University.

Breast cancer and Hepatitis B and C are very different diseases and do not seem to be related. Breast cancer, like all cancers, grows when some part of your body loses the usual control and so cells multiply and grow faster or they spread to different parts of your body. Both hepatitis B and Hepatitis C are infections that enter into the body from outside and cause mostly reaction in the liver. Both of these infections, because of their effects on the liver can increase the risk of a person developing liver cancer (hepatocellular cancer) but not breast cancer. It is possible that the treatment for breast cancer could lower ones immunity and so increase the risk of catching any infectious disease including hepatitis but still there is no specific relationship.
