I visited this facility
The Court at Palm Aire had a five-star rating. Besides being clean and orderly, everybody was very pleasant. It was a pleasant place with a lot going on. It was open, airy, and clean, and everything was up to date. The carpet was clean and there wasn't an odor in the place. The patients were all smiling and seemed happy. They had a pool, a garden, a dining room, a library, and a hair dresser. Every day there were different activities.

I am a friend or relative of resident
The reason my grandmother went there is that it was really close to where she was living. It's part of a larger community called Palm Aire with high-rise buildings and a golf close. There is shopping close by, but in the last 10 years, the area has gone downhill and there is a lot of crime in the area. There's a big casino nearby. The grounds are ok. They're sort of minimal in terms of plants or gardens or walking. The dining room for the assisted living location is much nicer than on the skilled nursing side. They have a library and TV rooms. The ones on the assisted living side are nice, but on the skilled nursing area, they're very average. When my grandmother originally got there, she got her own apartment with a kitchenette, but when her health declined, she was moved to the skilled nursing area and the room was very small and she shared it with someone else. The food is very average. It seemed like more a high school cafeteria. I wouldn't say it was the most nutritious food. The staff was very attentive and nice, but I remember my mom always thought that the care the staff provided was sufficient, so she paid one of the staff members to be more of her personal attendant. The security, compared to other facilities, wasn't really as strong. I could walk in without anyone paying attention to who was coming in and going out. This place didn't ever have the best odor, even though the facility itself was relative clean. It was recently redone and repainted, but the renovations really focused on the assisted living. There's a big discrepancy between the assisted living and skilled nursing areas. In the skilled nursing area, there are generally loud, annoying alarms going off. Since my field is social work, one of things I noticed was that the person functioning as the social worker at the facility actually had an MBA, not a social work background.
