I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom has moved in at Brookdale Wooster. They look out for her as far as her medications because that is very necessary for her. I have peace of mind knowing that she's being taken care of. You bring your own furniture, which is good because it makes it home. You can have different things there. You can bring your microwave if you like. My mom, she has two bedrooms. One of the bedrooms she uses for a living room, the other one as her bedroom. She has a little kitchen area, a nice bathroom, and a very nice walk-in shower. When she walks out there, she walks out into a community. She can go to the family room. She loves puzzles and they have a lot of those. The ladies get together and they work on puzzles. The staff is very friendly and I've gotten to know a lot of them quite well. Mom is a picky eater, so food for her is not a thing. And because of Covid, they want to keep the dining area to be mostly for residents only. Everything is easy to access. Where my mom is located, it's not far from the dining room, and it's not far from the salon. The whole facility is laid out very well. They keep the residents busy with activities. I looked at the pricing around and this facility is very well priced. I've already recommended them to a few people.

Mom is at Brookdale Wooster. We chose it because we just really liked their approach to care much better than a lot of the other places and they have a very nice facility with a very nice room available for her. A lot of these facilities have those long hallways, almost hospital-like, but Brookdale Wooster feels a lot homier. There are no long hallways. It's more open, nice, and it's quiet where they have her, which is kind of what she needed. The staff has been very caring. They've adjusted well to our needs and they seem genuinely interested in what our specific needs are and how they can best meet those. The facility is also clean. It doesn't smell.

I visited this facility

The staff at Brookdale Wooster was very friendly. The cost was nice. They had a lot lower rate than some of the other places. What I didn't like was the layouts of the rooms and the size of the rooms. They were very kind. They even checked back with me. We just didn't think the rooms were quite suitable for what we were looking for. The facility was OK. They had a salon and a courtyard. It's literally right down the street from the hospital. It's not quite as new as the other place, but it was clean and still nice.

I visited this facility

Brookdale Wooster showed me both of their assisted living and memory care areas. It was very nice and extremely clean. Everyone was very professional. The staff who gave me a tour was very helpful and informative. The apartment was smaller than I expected, but it was lovely and really nice. I looked all through the dining area and it was also clean and homey. They had daily activities and occupational therapy. The location was great, too.

I have been to Brookdale Wooster because we have a cousin there and we are real familiar with them, and I talked to them before. It was excellent and a really nice place. From family, everybody is really pleased with it, so it is plus points. The rooms were really nice and would do for what we need. My mom's cousin is actually there, and she said the food is quite good. People we talked to are pleased with it. It is a really nice place. I just think the whole attitude of the people who work there are great. They actually care.

I visited this facility

We visited Brookdale Wooster just outside. One of the employees walked through a couple of the rooms and showed us a video on their phone, so we could see what the rooms looked like. The people were wonderful. The facility looked very nice. The staff that we met were great. You couldn't see into a room, but you could see a hallway from outside through the window. It looked just as nice as any other place. The courtyard was in the center from the way they described it, so we couldn't get to that portion of the building. A part of the building was newer and part of it was older.

We saw the assisted living of Brookdale Wooster. It's very beautiful, it's very clean, it smells good, it's modern, and it's very home-like. The staff is very friendly and they clearly care about their residents. They have a little cafeteria and a cafe where they play games. They have exercises, crafts, and they go on field trips. That's definitely where we will put our parents.

Mom moved into Brookdale Wooster. Everything is really clean. The residents are warm and open and invite her to play Bingo and share their dinners together. The staff is very helpful with her medical needs and transportation to doctor's appointments. There are meeting areas outside the room, places for lots of puzzles, an aquarium, bird cages, and ability to host family gatherings. Everyone has access to an oven and refrigerator for family gatherings. There are studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments.

Brookdale Wooster is very nice and expensive. The staff members are very good. They have a lot of daily programs for the residents. The rooms are very homey with furniture that suits the person. However, some don't have beds because they use a big chair as they want it to be more homey like a living room. The place is made with quality woods, paints, and wallpapers. The ground is beautiful. They have actually developed 82 more rooms for memory care, and they go from one street through to the next street. Location is convenient. They are very open to the community of Wooster, and they might even hold other festivities. They had an art exhibit there with a couple of residents entering it as well as the public that wants to as a way of opening their place to the public.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My parent says the food is very good - has not once complained about it. There are a number of excellent, caring, experienced staff members who have treated my parent wonderfully; at the same time the other half of the staff turns over frequently, and neither seems particularly interested in learning the residents' particular needs nor doing more than the minimum on their shifts. As a result, the good staff members are over-worked trying to fill in the gaps. The daily schedule and number of guest presenters are pretty thin, due I think to a similar turnover in activity directors (though the periodic holiday dinners are very well done). The medical and housekeeping managers seem not to have time to adequately identify and correct shortfalls in staff performance.

We are very happy with Brookdale Wooster. My brother-in-law is happy with the food. Last week, there was a virus at the facility, but my brother-in-law was not affected. They kept going into his room and checking on him and served the meals in the rooms so that the other residents would not be exposed to the virus. He was so happy with that. He thinks he’s in a really nice hotel. The reason we chose this facility is because we have been visiting our friends there, and they received good care. Also, we never smelled any foul odor during all those times we visited. They have a bus that takes them out to breakfast, lunch, or dinner and to the mall, too. They have very nice activities like crafts and music.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We admitted my brother last Friday into Brookdale Wooster, and we’re quite happy with it. He is in memory care and has a one-bedroom with a living room, a kitchen, and a dining area that is beautiful and looks out on a gorgeous courtyard. It’s a gorgeous facility with marble counters in the dining room. Brookdale has owned it for a number of years. They’ve upgraded it before and are in the process of upgrading it again. His room was totally renovated with new paint, new carpet, and more. They’re building a new memory care with 37 units, which should be available in January or maybe a little later, and he will be moving into a single room there. We picked the room out for him, and it has a view off in the distance of a residential street, nice lawn, and a couple of trees in his vision. We were there Friday night, and the food was very good. They had two choices and both of them would have been good. We had fish that was excellent, which was kind of surprising, really. I deliberately picked fish just to see if it was tasteless, and it wasn’t. The service was reasonably quick, and they were quite attentive. My brother had coffee and dessert afterwards. They also serve snacks -- which are included in the price -- in the afternoon, and I think they have it in the morning too, in-between meals. The management seems to be good, too. We've met Jeffrey, who's the top guy, and Zach, who's in the sales department. They're both very attentive and friendly guys. We're quite pleased with the place. They have a program of continuous activities, especially for the memory loss people. They have fun games and exercise, but they can keep them busy with useful exercise, reading, and maybe watching a movie for a short time. On the whole, if people participated, they would not have complaints about not having anything to do there.

I love the caregivers altho they are over worked and cannot always assist residents right away due to not having enough caregivers per wing. I love the caregivers they have tho. I know they love their jobs cause they sure aren't in it for the money. I find it irritating that they have the money to renovate a perfectly good place but cannot hire enough caregivers to do a good job.

I visited this facility

I have several older people I visit at Brookdale Place at Wooster. It's a very classy place. It was more expensive than I could handle though. The rooms were excellent and probably of better quality than any place I've seen. The staff were pretty nice people.

It was nice but she has much better closet space at the other place. The food was fine and that was important to her. It's also an hour and a half away from me. They only had assisted living and only had bridge once in awhile.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I moved in with my mom in Brookdale at the beginning of March. She sadly passed away just this April. She was needing extra care at that time, care that wee couldn't provide her at home. I had to be with her because we were just used to being together and it wouldn't work out in any other way. I was taking care of her at that time and was a companion for her until her passing. Nevertheless, I'm still here and I'm happy with everything. Their food is okay and they also have facility for people needing extra care. I'm not too crazy about their price though.
