I am a friend or relative of a resident
My dad is in The Frontier House. I am pleased with the staff's response. They do care about the residents that live there. They try to help them out the best they can. They go the extra mile to make them as comfortable as they can and to keep them busy and occupied with what they want to do. They do pay attention to what the residents like in their diet and try to accommodate them. They allow visitors like myself to come in and visit anytime we want and stay as long as we want with our relative, so I have a positive feeling about that. My mother was in this place before, so when my father needs to go into assisted living, I pick Frontier House. They have two people to a room. Each one has their own dresser and clothes closet, and they want me to bring some personal effects for my dad to hang on the wall. I have favorable things to say on the way they operate and do things there. The food is delicious. They invited me to eat several times, and I did. I eat the same food that the residents eat there, and they try not to have the food too hot because they don't like to burn them up or anything like that, so they try to have it warm, but they don't have it hot. It is easy for the elderly person to eat that, and I think the food is good. They also offer different drinks. The place is clean. They want to see what each resident wants, and I know that they have reading materials. They have two different newspapers that come in the morning and magazines. So, if the residents want to read magazines, they can. They have a television there in the living room, and mostly the residents like sitting there and watch TV. Then they do have smaller TVs there also that they have in the room. So, if the resident wishes to watch TV in the privacy of their own room, they can do that. They have the doors locked at all times, and if you want to go out, they will walk you, unlock the door, and let you out. Then, they lock the door. In this particular house, they have 10 residents maximum. Right now, they have 8, and they have 1 caregiver for all 8 residents. They can always have another caregiver, but I don't know if that is feasible. They have monitors in the rooms so they can hear what the patients are doing at night, and they have alarm system that if the patients try to get out of bed the alarms goes on. They did a pretty good job.

My father has lived here since Frontier House opened. It has been a wonderful place for him to live. He is home! He has a warm caring safe place to be. The staff are terrific. I could not be more pleased with the care my father receives there.

There is an alternative to "nursing homes" and large "assisted living" facilities for your loved one! My grandmother was at a large nursing home (she passed away several years ago, god bless her), anyway if I had only new of the Frontier House back then... The Frontier House is an assisted living suburban home shared by only 8 to 10 residents. Small assisted living residences such as this one provides individual attention and affection, not to mention the emotional comfort derived from a homelike setting: I have been there several times with a friend who's mother is there. The first time I was there I immediately could see the personal one on one care that is provided for everyone and the difference provided from a larger nursing home facility. Whether they gather around the big dining room table for home cooked meals and/or gather in the great room in their favorite chairs for television, snacks, activities, music or conversation everyone is attentively cared for - all just a few steps from the covered back porch, beautiful back yard, and detached recreation/activity room "“ would have been perfect for Mom's 89th birthday! Everything is taken care of for them from brushing their teeth to laundry, dressing, and making their beds. My friends mother's bedroom has some of her own personal furniture which I thought was a nice touch for her, she actually thinks it's her house (she is so sweet). I would recommend the Frontier House for anyone interested in having the best in one on one care for their loved ones.

This is a nice redwood home set in the trees and pretty rock formations. They have 10 residents. The rooms are all semi-private with shared baths. All are handicapped equipped.Cable is included in each room. The house is very pretty and clean inside with lots of sunlight. They offer very good home cooking and residents have choices. They have snacks and fresh fruits and vegetables. They do lots of baking of fresh breads and desserts. They offer housekeeping and laundry. They have assisted and a few dementia residents. They have doctors on emergency call. Family is relied on for transport to appointments. All caregivers are certified. They do a lot of in house activities such as exercise, bingo, cards, movies, parties, and music and arts and crafts. The residents can go out to the senior center. They put on a huge dinner party with entertainment in the center's auditorium once a year. Along with this they have a large auction to support the senior center. This is a nice facility and staff but the activities to go out are limited somewhat.
