"This is a very clean, pretty, well kept residence. Meals are good. Rooms size, based on cost are nice. My suggestion would be to paint colored lines on floor so residents know they live in the “blue” corridor and can navigate back to room. Also have a coffee dispenser machine so residents can get coffee whenever they want and staff don’t worry about them dropping the glass coffee pots etc. "

"We have chosen Red Cedar Lodge for my father. They assisted me in getting additional financial help. It's an extremely nice place. It doesn't look like a medical setting. The rooms are huge. They have private bathrooms. The facility looks like a resort. The people there are really friendly. They don't have a specific library, but they keep books all over the place for people to take when they want. From what I've experienced, the staff members were friendly."

"Grandhaven Manor II is great. My apartment is clean, the staff is great and the food is good. We play cards and Bingo, we go to the movies, we get together and chitchat, and we have birthday parties. I was very impressed even with my first visit."

"Brookdale Meridian is a great place for my father. It's one good place that I might want to consider for him. It's a place where he can wander around and they have places that are heavily guarded so none of the patients will escape if they have dementia or any type of mental disability. The staff were very informative and helped me with a lot of things. When I took a tour, they showed me a lot of the activities that I do with my father, and that's why it's really good for his care. They have a salon and a courtyard. It's very clean. In terms of location, it's near restaurants."

"Brookdale Meridian was very clean and very well maintained. The staff or person who gave me the tour was great. They have restaurant-style dining, and they have it broken up into small areas, so rather than a large dining area where people have to go, they had dining on each floor, so that's something different than other places I've toured. They also had different opportunities for engagement in common areas for activities, movies, and things like that. The facility was clean, well-maintained, and secure. They have their own nurses onsite."

"I am a resident of Independence Village of Grand Ledge. It is a very friendly place. The workers and the residents naturally are all very friendly. I have a one-bedroom apartment with a bath and a kitchen. The kitchen has a refrigerator, a stove, a sink, cupboards and everything. They have a studio and a two-bedroom. They have euchre, a card game tournament, dominoes, bingo, and every Wednesday they have entertainment. They have it all. They have a library, a courtyard, and an activity room. There is also an assisted living facility and some place for dementia people, blind people and other people that need permanent care. There are two floors here where I am, but the assisted living is one floor. I walk about three to five miles a day, and I tell them that whenever I see somebody new, that this is a very friendly place. I've been here five-and-a-half years."

"It was a very nice place. They got organized things daily and all kinds of stuff for the elderly to do. They have a physical therapy room. They got a lot to offer. The staff was very nice, but they're just going through a changeover of ownership, so all of them are trying to learn the new way, the new ownership, and stuff like that, but they were very nice. They had their monthly menu put out so people could see what was on the menu and what have you. They have the monthly activity menu, too. The rooms were nice. Everything looked clean. They were a little disorganized, but I don't think that was their fault. That's just because of new ownership. Everybody was trying."

"I went to New Haven Foster Care. The rooms were good sized. I liked that it was homey. It felt like you were in a house, although it had lots of bedrooms. They had a common area. Someone could stay in their room and not feel cramped and they could come out to the common area as they wished. The place was neat. The residents were watching TV. There weren't any planned activities going on. The staff person when I was there was pleasant and delightful, answered all my questions and told me things I didn't know I needed to know. The dining area was homey. It had a nice big table for group meals. The facility was well laid out. There were some larger rooms and some smaller rooms, and the price reflected the size of the room. Even the small rooms were pleasant and big enough. I wouldn't mind staying in the small room. I could spend some time in my room and be happy. They have a big backyard. You could have a TV in your room. There's not a salon, but they have people come in to provide those services. They didn't provide transportation for anything. That's the responsibility of the family."
