Inflation has increased the cost of assisted living in Bakersfield, along with many other expenses. From 2022-2024, the average cost of care has risen from $4,968 a month to 2024's estimated $5,862, an 18% increase. Care costs nationwide have gone up by a similar amount, as have the average monthly prices seniors pay for assisted living in several California cities, notably Riverside, San Francisco and Sacramento, the capital. Each of these cities saw an 18% hike over the same three-year period, while California at large saw a more modest 13% increase, from $4,625 to $5,221.
