At 95 and in a nursing home, is hospice an option?

My 95 year old mother-in-law recently went from living at home to the hospital, to assisted living and now to a nursing home in the last three months. Her body is worn out, and she has heart issues. The moves have been very upsetting for her, and some days she says she wants to die. Would hospice be an option and is it covered by Medicare?
